Our spirit animals are powerful teachers on our spiritual awakening journeys. They help to guide, inspire, and lead us toward our true purpose while helping us to reconnect with our Souls.
When we come in contact with our spirit animal, we often immediately feel a sense of resonance, reverence, awe, and sometimes fear.
On a deep level, we know that this aspect of Nature is here to reveal lessons and truths that we haven’t yet had the stomach to digest.
However, simply the presence of our spirit animal can often give us the strength to enact changes, make brave decisions, and live our truth.
There are so many ways to learn from these sacred manifestations of Nature.
3 Different Types of Animal Allies

As I elaborate in my spirit animal article, there are three types of animal allies:
- Spirit Animals (guides that call on you)
- Power Animals (guides you call on)
- Totem Animals (guides you inherit)
We’ll only be exploring what your potential spirit animal is in this spirit animal quiz.
Spirit animals are the guides that appear in your life because you need to learn something from them – rather than actively calling on them or inheriting them from a lineage/clan. These are usually the easiest animal allies to connect with.
You can learn more about the other two types by reading the spirit animal article.
Can Our Spirit Animals Change?
Yes, our spirit animals often change throughout the span of a lifetime. We can also have multiple spirit animals.
However, most of us tend to carry one central spirit animal with us throughout our lives that doesn’t change.
In other words, there are both short-term and long-term spirit animals.
While short-term spirit animals help to temporarily guide us through tricky periods of growth, change, and rebirth, long-term spirit animals are there with us through thick and thin.
Many believe that our long-term spirit animals are an aspect of our Soul manifested in animal form.
I believe Wolf, for example, has been by my side since birth as I have always carried a deep resonance with her. As my own essence is very similar to that of a Wolf – and the lessons I’ve learned in this life closely match what Wolf teaches – I consider Wolf to be my long-term spirit animal.
Many other short-term/transitional spirit animal guides have popped up on my path through the years, some including Dove, Spider, Cricket, Moth, Panther, Deer, Raven (and the list goes on).

I was shocked that my Horse is my spirit guardian animal, 6 months ago I decided to learn how to ride them professionally and how to deal with them, it appears now like they were the ones who called me to be with them, so excited and I will start to learn more on how to deepen my relation with the guardian animal , thanks :)
When I see a picture of a wolf I feel no connection
Owl
Owl Spirit Animal
The spirit animal owl reminds us to look deep within ourselves and be true to our own intentions and feelings. The outward turned eyes of an owl and its ability to see in the dark teaches us the lesson of clarity and deception. How we can spot it, avoid it, and how we can be true to ourselves and root it out from within. In short, the owl spiritual meaning tells us that when our inner vision is clear, then spotting deception and trickery in the outside world becomes effective.
I would’ve never expected that Spider was going to be my Spirit Animal. They frighten so many people. Although, Charlotte’s Web was one of my favorite movies as a little child.
I got Wolf as my Spirit Animal, it doesn’t surprise me really. I always felt like the need to walk my own path, to find my pack and stick with it my whole life going forward. Maybe it has guided me here. Maybe this is my pack. Time will tell.
This makes sense… I have had an obsession with wolf stories and such as a teenager… I seriously love them
Bat is the ally that showed up for me, and it is perfect!
The death of my father last month catapulted me into a healing journey to process grief and forgiveness. A lifetime of grief of many multiple and varied forms and origins.
Last night, I wrote this: The perceived darkness of grief is not a rigid truth. The truth is that it’s the light permeating life that holds the illusion of darkness until we are ready to heal. I am, and always was, a being of light. I have, we all have, star dust in every fiber.
We are the light that lights the worlds!
Thank you
Surprise, surprise, I got Wolf two times round. I’ll pay close attention to any animal I encounter in my Life. I love dogs and cats, often see doves and spiders. Can’t remember seeing any animals in my dreams. Interesting.
I find most inner peace while volunteering at a therapeutic horse farm. I feel happy, love to work with the people, horses, donkeys, dogs and kitty. When I took the quiz I was happily surprised to find out that my spirit animal is the Horse!
I got Panther…
