Spirit guides are said to be the entities that we choose (or that are assigned to us) before birth to aid our spiritual growth and transformation.
However, not everyone holds that perspective toward spirit guides.
Other notions surrounding our spiritual helpers include the more psychologically oriented one, that spirit guides represent parts of our unconscious minds that symbolically help us find wholeness.

No matter what perspective you subscribe to, it is beyond doubt that we all need guidance, direction and support in life from guides that are beyond our own capabilities.
In modern times, spirit guides, like many other elements of spirituality, have been heavily monetized and commercialized both on the internet and in real life (I’m sure you’ve seen the wide variety of courses, meditations, decks, etc. out there helping you to “manifest your spirit guide”).
But despite the apparent new-age-ifying of spirit guides, they are nevertheless a shared human experience that still retains value and needs to be honored.
In fact, coming in contact with one of your spirit guides can mark a significant point of change, transformation, and rebirth in your life.

What Are Spirit Guides?
Our spirit guides are universal forces that are here to help us. A spirit guide can appear as an angel, animal, mythical creature, ancestor, ancient god or goddess, otherworldly entity, or interdimensional being.

At the most basic level, a spirit guide is a type of energy that is embodied in an array of different forms. In other words, spirit guides are archetypal forces or aspects of life which teach, warn, support, comfort, remindย and reveal things that we need to learn about ourselves in order to grow.
Do Spirit Guides Actually Exist?
Do spirit guides actually exist on another dimension? Or are they all inside the mind?
Here’s the thing: I can’t answer those questions for you.
Whether spirit guides are projections of the mind, reflections of the soul, or dwell in different realms altogether is one of the great mysteries of life. Only you can decide that for yourself!
Do We Only Have One Spirit Guide?
You might be wondering whether we have many spirit guides or just one.
In my experience, I believe we have multiple spirit guides. Some we are born with, others visit us sporadically during the course of life.
For this reason, I divide spirit guides into two categories: our major guides, and our minor guides.
Major guides typically accompany us throughout our lives and help us to learn major life lessons. Minor guides are temporary and help with daily concerns or issues that we struggle with.
Spirit Guides and Spiritual Awakening
Of what relevance do spirit guides have on our spiritual awakening paths? Well, as implied by the name, spirit guides help our spirit, our innermost essence, to evolve in certain directions.
For example, if one of your spirit guides is Kuan Yin, the Bodhisattva of compassion, you’ll be directed to open your heart and show more mercy to others (including yourself).

My Experience With Spirit Guides
I’ve got to admit that by nature, I’m a fairly skeptical person.
I donโt like believing something unless Iโm practically hit in the face with it, full force.
Until about 2015, spirit guides were just “spiritual mumbo jumbo” to me. I ignorantly assigned them to the woman-reading-a-crystal-ball-and-telling-your-future category.
But things changed on one of the first-ever shamanic trips I took with a plant teacher (psilocybin mushrooms).
My intention was clear: I wanted to get in contact with my spirit guide โ if there even was such a thing.
Going into the experience with a mind half open and half closed, I journeyed inwards through dancing patterns, kaleidoscopic images, and other wild scenes.
But holding the intention to meet my spirit guide strongly in mind, I was eventually humbled. I traveled down what felt like a tunnel deep, dark into the earth. Chattering vampiric mouths, ghosts, skeletons, and other ghoulish images appeared around me. And then, finally, I reached the bottom.
A face โ half-man, half-goat โ appeared on a black luminous background. He smiled at me, frowned, laughed, mused, glared, and about a thousand other facial expressions that all changed every few seconds.
I had finally met him โ Pan, the god of the wild places โ my spirit guide. For what felt like ages I observed this trickster figure staring at me with endless different faces. I didn’t quite know what to do, say, or think!
Later, in the integration phase of my shamanic journey, I realized that Pan had led me down into my inner Underworld and had initiated me onto my Shadow Work journey. One of his messages was this: we are all composed of many, many different parts and everything is not what it seems.
But my meetings with Pan didnโt just stop there!
Through the next coming years, I continued to see Pan every so often in daily life and in my dreams. Not only that, but I continued to meet more spirit guides. The floodgates had been opened!

If you’re dubious about the existence of spirit guides like I was, I encourage you to approach them with an open mind. Acknowledge the possibility that you might be wrong, that they might just exist. Allow a margin of error.
On the other hand, if you believe in the existence of spirit guides โ if you have had direct experience with them, but seek a stronger connection โ you’ll find some continued helpful advice below.
7 Types of Spirit Guides
Right now, it seems to be a common trend to believe that spirit guides are primarily animals or angelic beings โ but this is only one small dimension of the many possibilities that exist out there.
Spirit guides, I believe, can have unlimited shapes and forms.
A spirit guide could just as easily be a soft gust of air that makes the hairs on your arm stand up, as it could be a full-blown godly being that you meet during a shamanic journey.
There are so many possibilities out there, and below I will break down the main โtypes,โ โspeciesโ or forms of spirit guides which you might encounter on your path.
Remember, you can have more than one spirit guide โ in fact, most people often do!
1. Half Man Half Beast (Trans-Species)
Many spirit guides manifest themselves as half-man/woman and half animal. Examples include centaurs, fauns, harpies, mermaids, sphinxes, fairies, and minotaurs.
Many deities also appear as spirit guides, for instance, Anubis (jackal-headed Egyptian god), Ganesha (elephant-headed Indian god), Ra (falcon head, human body), etc.
As I mentioned above, the first ever spirit guide that I personally made contact with was Pan, a half-man half-goat entity, who โrevealedโ to me my own personal shadow self and the need for me to embark on a journey of healing my core wounds.
2. Animals/Totems
Animals are well-known spirit guides and have gained a lot of popularity over the past few years, perhaps thanks to their accessibility in our everyday lives.
Some ancient cultures, such as the indigenous Americans and Chinese, held animals as sacred representations of their tribes or lineages.
These days, spirit animals come to represent and reflect a personโs own inner yearnings, passions, instincts, and needs, moving from group use to more personal and individual use in this day and age.

3. Light Beings
Many people describe โlight beingsโ (also commonly known as guardian angels), as being their spirit guides.
Light beings are said to help people move through traumatic areas of life such as death, loss,ย and grief. Light beings are called such because of their tendency to appear bright, glowing, or full of light.
4. Ancestors
Ancestral guides are entities that have some kind of blood connection to us and our lineage. An ancestral guide could be a recently deceased member of your family (mother, father, aunt, grandfather), or a long-dead relative that you have perhaps never met in your lifetime.
When I have done shamanic journeying in the past, I have connected with what I consider my ancestors. To me, they appeared as shadowy beings that felt distinctly familiar. They taught me that although I felt alone and isolated in my birth family, I am part of something vastly larger.
The messages that our ancestors bring can be beautiful and life-changing.
5. Plants
Shamans believe that the world and everything in it is composed of vibrant, living energy. This includes plants.
Ayahuasca โ a psychoactive brew that is made out of a vine commonly found in Peru โ is one of the most well-known ways of getting in touch with the spirits of nature.
Interestingly the Banisteriopsis Caapi (Ayahuasca)ย vine is known as โthe vine of the souls,โ and it is common for all those taking it to feel guided by the plant into the realms of inner and outer existence.
The same profound capacity can be said for many other psychoactive (and non-psychoactive plants) such as certain species of cacti like San Pedro (mescalin being the psychoactive compound), certain Acacia species (DMT), and so on.
Plants can either be symbolic, like in pagan traditions that associateย certain qualities with certain plants, or experiential, where ingesting the plant stimulates mental, physical, and emotional expansion.
6. Gods and Goddesses
Gods and goddesses have been worshiped, feared and written about since the dawn of time. They span across every culture, every tradition, every religion, and every part of the world.
Common gods and goddesses that serve as spirit guides include Athena, Kuan Yin, Apollo, Lakshmi, Lugh, Kali, Hathor, Horus, Shiva,ย and so on.
7. Ascended Masters
Ascended masters are beings that have already lived on this earth, gone through a spiritual awakening but have become enlightened, awakened or have transcended the cycle of reincarnation. Thus, ascended masters represent the ultimate teachers and gateways to the divine.
It is said that ascended masters, like all spirit guides, teach all people who call on them (not just you) to achieve greater wholeness and harmony in life.
Common examples include Krishna, Jesus, Confucius, Kuthumi, Melchizedek, Mary the Mother of Jesus, Babaji, Gautama Buddha, and many others.
9 Ways to Connect With Your Spirit Guides
This article is not about invoking spirit guides, as in calling on a guide who you believe will help you. Instead, the following guidance focuses on how to reveal the spirit guides who have already been assigned to you in this life.

1. Scrying
Scrying is the ancient divinatory practice of gazing into a reflective surface, such as water, a mirror, or a crystal ball to receive special information.
From a psychological perspective, scrying helps you to get in touch with your unconscious mind and the important guidance which may be locked away within its depths.
Scrying is, however, something that must be practiced consistently โ it takes some practice.
But if you’re a visually-based person (i.e., one who receives insight through pictures or thinks visually), this path may be worth committing to.
In order to connect with your spirit guide via scrying, set an intention to โseeโ your guide first. You may like to say a mantra or prayer to communicate with your guide beforehand and your sincere desire to meet them. Read more about scrying.
2. Dream Work
Here’s how to practice dream work:
Just before going to bed, set the intention to see, meet, or speak with your spirit guide within your dreams. Continue this dream work practice for about two weeks and see what happens.
When you wake up, note any strange figures or unusual patterns that emerge in your dream. The goal is to find repetition: what messages or dream beings keep appearing?
Sometimes our spirit guides donโt directly reveal themselves, but instead symbolically reveal who they are to us. Take note of symbols that keep emerging and journal about them. What do they mean to you (don’t overthink the answer)?
Once you have a strong inkling of who/what your guide is, thank them. Continue to ask for guidance and for their appearance in your dreams before going to bed. Learning how to lucid dream is also a powerful way to contact your spirit guides.
3. Silence Your Mind
One of the best ways to contact your spirit guides is by silencing your mind through practices such as meditation or mindfulness exercises. Here is one simple practice:
Sit or lie down in a quiet place that is undisturbed by other people. Focus on your back or thighs as they come in contact with the ground. Notice the rising and falling of your chest. Listen to the sounds around you and focus on being present in the Now.
If you have raging thoughts, jump up and down for a little bit (to expel the frantic energy from your body), then resume your meditation.
Whenever a thought, storyline, image, memory, word, etc. comes up, note it silently, then let it go. For example, you might notice a memory from yesterday, and note silently “memory” or a random thought and note “thought.” Donโt try to fight these thoughts, just let them flow.
When you feel sufficiently relaxed and centered in the present moment, ask to hear the name or see the face of your spirit guide. You might need to wait for a while, so be patient. Let go of all expectations (they will block what you are about to receive) and keep your mind open like the sky.
Journal about your experiences afterward. If you struggle with this practice, donโt worry. Most people do. Just practice it for 10 minutes each day for a week and see what happens.
4. Bibliomancy
Bibliomancy is the practice of seeking spiritual insight by opening a book you’ve intuitively chosen at a random place. This form of divination was popular in the middle ages, but it continues to be a valualbe way of gainin guidance, even until this very day.
Here is how to use bibliomancy to connect with your spirit guides:
Go to your personal library or collection of books. (Alternatively, if you donโt have any, go to a local library.) Stand in front of the books and close your eyes. Ask to be drawn to a specific book that will help reveal your spirit guide. I encourage closing your eyes as you do this so that you arenโt influenced by bias. Let your inner feelings guide you.
When you feel a pull or intuitive ‘nudge,’ pick up the book your hand has paused over. Then, either open the book at random and quickly look at the page, or wait for a page number to pop into your mind. Read what is in front of you.
Sometimes bibliomancy takes practice because it requires you to have a strong connection to your intuition. Other times, you wonโt receive a direct response, but will instead receive a clue that will help you explore further.
Remember, spirit guides are powerful beings with their own personalities. Calling on them will not necessarily make them want to reveal themselves to you straight away. Often, by concealing themselves and making you work to discover them, you learn important lessons along the way.
(However, with this being said, spirit guides may decide to send a very loud and clear message, it all depends on your life context!)
5. Visualization
One relatively simple way of contacting your spirit guides is through visualization.
There are quite a few spirit guide visualizations already out there on the internet which you might like to try out. You might even like to create your own visualization by listening to soothing music and imagining that you are walking down dark a staircase into a white room at the bottom. In that white room your spirit guide will be there, waiting for you.
Remember to always set an intention for your visualization. In this case, it would be โI wish to connect with my spirit guideโ or something similar to that.
6. Plant medicine journeying
Firstly, a word of warning. Plant medicine isn’t for the fainthearted and it absolutely requires a ‘sitter’ to watch over you such as a sober friend you trust or a trained shamanic guide/healer.
If you have the ability to access plant medicines such as ayahuasca, psilocybin mushrooms, or mescaline where you live, approach them with the utmost reverence. These aren’t “party drugs” โ they’re doorways to profound places and must be used reverently. Even marijuana, in the right ceremonial setting, can open a portal into the โother side.โ
Please note that journeying with sacred plant medicine doesn’t always bring what you want โ it brings what you need. So while you may have the intention to meet your spirit guides, you might instead be tossed into a cosmic kaleidoscopic voyage into another realm or a subterranean sacred geometrical ego-death experience.

Above all, please ensure that you’re mentally sound (i.e., balanced, neutral, and relaxed) and are as emotionally prepared as possible for the experience โ plant medicine isn’t something to trifle with. If you approach it with an anxious or depressed mind, chances are you’ll experience what’s known as a “bad trip.” Mindset is everything.
Remember to set a strong intention to connect with your spirit guide before going into the experience, and repeat that intention throughout the journey if possible.
7. Trance
No, Iโm not referring to a genre of music! Iโm referring to the state of mind, as in, a half-conscious state.
You know that strange mental space you enter before you go to sleep (technically called the hypnogogic state) where images play out in your mind, kind of like you’re dreaming? That is the state weโre aiming for here.
When you’re in a trance, your mind is open and receptive. It no longer has the typical filters of conscious waking reality. As such, this state is perfect for connecting with your spirit guides.
Many ancient cultures used trance to โconnect with the gods.โ Different ways of entering trance include self-hypnosis, various breathing exercises, relaxation techniques like catharsis, sensory deprivation, watching a pendulum, visualization, drumming, and dancing.
One simple way to enter an altered state is to stare at a candle gently while practicing the shamanic breathwork technique. Shamanic breathwork involves breathing softly in through the nose and out through the mouth in a circular or connected way. There should be no pause in between, immediately following the out breath with the in breath, and in breath with the out breath.
If you decide to try this trance-inducing practice, do it gently and slowly for about ten minutes. Stop if at any time you feel uncomfortable.

8. Nature Immersion
When you take the time to look and pay attention, nature is sublimely magical. It is also a beautiful place to come in contact with your spirit guides (particularly animal spirits and trans-species beings).
Find someplace outside. Sit in a park, by a river or stream, or go hiking. Look at the clouds, bodies of water, and trees. Can you glimpse any faces? What animals keep appearing that have seemed to accompany you for a while?
Just the other week I was staring at the clouds. Out of nowhere, one particular cloud morphed into the face of Pan. I interpreted this as a clear reminder of his constant presence in my life. And yes, while this could have been a product of my imagination, the very fact that I interpreted the cloud as showing the face of Pan speaks a lot about my personal unconscious.
Look around you, be mindful, and soak in the mystery. Nature teaches us so much with or without the presence of a distinct spirit guide!
9. Look For Synchronicity
Synchronicity is another word for a meaningful coincidence. Have you ever seen repetitive numbers (such as 222, 3333, 1111, 1212), names, or symbols arise in your life? Pay attention. These often carry important messages.
Synchronicity is a wonderful way of “following the breadcrumbs” and clues of who our spirit guides are.

Also, seeking out synchronicity can be used as a technique to contact your spirit guides and to ask for their guidance.
As always, if you’d like to reach out to your guides, set a clear intention that you either say internally or out loud. You can also set an intention by saying a prayer. Here is an example of a prayer you could use:
โDear Spirit/Divine/Source, if it is your will, please help me discover my spirit guides. Please send me signs each day that I can understand. Thank you.โ
Every day, look out for unusual and repetitious signs, names, symbols, places, or objects that appear. Keep a notebook and record your observations.
After one week, reflect on what you have seen. Are you being shown something? Synchronicity works best when we are in touch with our inner selves so ensure that you are practicing mindful awareness.
Takeaway
Spirit guides are just as varied and diverse as human beings are. It’s likely that during your lifetime you will have many different types of guides for many different purposes.

How can you connect with spirit guides if you haven’t yet? Is it possible that I just don’t have any?
Yes. From what I have learned (via my own spirit guide) most humans in this day and age don’t have spirit guides, let alone any spiritual aptitude. I do feel that it’s quite arrogant to think that spirits would just wait on our hand and foot, but I digress. In truth it’s still possible to connect with spirits, but non spirit guide spirits who do so with humans are considered rogues (as it is a privilege to be in contact with this world). Pendulums are really effective for beginners.
I find it odd that someone who works with a spirit guide would write this.
I’ve been working with mine for quite some time, and have never been given the indication that most people don’t have guides.
If anything, I’ve learned that we all have rhem, but not everyone is conscious of them. Maybe this is what you mean?
Spirit guides don’t wait on us hand and foot, either. Those who have worked with them know this.
Mine would find that amusing if I were to state such a thing to them. :-)
Clearly mine and yours are on different wavelengths. I don’t ask in jest, are you absolutely sure what you are in contact with is actually a spirit guide?
I mean no malice to you. What I mean (to be more clear) is that we really don’t all have guides, in fact only a small minority do. Why would we humans at this dark point in society with such a rejection of the natural; be graced with true spirit guides?
And how easy is it to decipher that what we are hearing from those who appear to be guides, is the truth? How do you communicate with your own?
In your reply, you question me quite a bit about whether I know who I’m in contact with. In fact, you seem very doubtful about spirit communication in general.
This makes me wonder.why someone filled with so much doubt would be practicing this work.
I find that very interesting.
Even though many people are not in touch with the natural world much anymore doesn’t discard the fact that they still have ancestors, and spirit guides that would like to communicate.
I’m afraid I’ll need to politely agree to disagree with you on this point.
For me…I see society as on the brink of great change. What better time for spirit guides to make themselves known to us than now?
I don’t doubt this, nor their determination. They communicate with us frequently, their influence often going unnoticed..
Trust me, I’m not doubtful of the spiritual communication in and of itself. But someone like yourself, if your picture is anything to go by; as a collective people, any spirit guides privileged enough to be such would not deign to ‘guide’ at all. We’ve had our chances in time, and self serving ‘enlightenment’ most likely does not agree with them. You can choose to disagree with that again, do feel free.
And you can very well continue to find interest in my own disposition. We can continue to differ on what is whimsical fancy and what actually is as I’m sure you will. I find myself doubting such a conversation would reach your ears, however. But I do ask, for all the destruction humanity has done to this world, and each other; filled with such greed – why would any ascended spirit want part in what we are? And what makes you so special (or any one of us) to think a legitimate spirit would aid you? I don’t believe what I want to believe when I practice. I don’t at all know about you, but I don’t go in centering myself, and know my place in this world. That I have found through much meditation, thought, and the use of my own pendulum.
I may overstep, but I’d advise yourself to know your own place. All I look for is truth regardless of how I feel or want it to be. I’ve found in that, that I am in complete acceptance of it.
Now, what great change do you speak of? More wars? Planned parenthood defunded? Continuation of clockwork mass shootings? Further eradication of nature? Neocolonialism and white supremacy? Or the maintained illusion of a meritocracy? Is something going to suddenly change all these things for the better? Or are we just being faux philosophical. I’d genuinely like to know. I’ve observed our spiritual movement (contemporary) for a long time now, and it’s all fluff. So I await some clarity here.
You and I have two separate views of the world.
I see it as a school house…we are here to learn, and to work through our problems on a large scale as well as on an individual basis.
I’m not a Christian. I don’t feel we are here to be saved so we can go to heaven. I don’t believe in apocalypse.
I understand the picture you’re painting of our current world. Many have lost heart. But our world still has much beauty about it in the earth, and it’s people.
We are here to learn. Life isn’t supposed to be easy. We have challenges in all areas in order for our souls to grow in wisdom, for all consciousnes to grow. And we don’t all grow at the same rate.
This, to me, is not self serving spiritually….if that’s what you were saying.
We are part of the whole. For us to better ourselves individually only helps collective consciousness to expand.
Earth has a consciuoness of her own which we are a part of. As we develop further, so does she and vice versa. We are like one organism.
The negative individuals in this world are not going to stop my work. I’m going to continue to contribute to wisdom and growth of mass consciousness.
This is where I’m coming from in my relationship to spirit. I’ve experienced spirit’s eagerness to work with me, and others.

Spirit most definitely searches for those who are eager, and sincere about working with it.
I might add, too, that I fully believe in cycles. Its not hard to see that all of nature runs on cycles….having high points, and then dipping down to lower points only to rise above it all once again. Why would human life be any different? Cyles are natural to us, as well, and contribute to our expansion of consciousness.
I feel that spirit and nature asks us to endure during the low times…it helps us to expand our awareness. To be able to still grow spiritually during low times is a sign that one is looking beyond it all. I call them visionaries.
Please stop. Stay grounded, please. If you are indeed looking for any truth at all then perhaps in years time you will rethink this foolishness, but I will not address it further. Educate yourself; you are too entrenched and cannot truly see… Seemingly anything at all. And I certainly hope you’re not assuming anything about myself, and simply musing about your own trajectory. I understand your points, I myself am a healer and on a spiritual journey but there is a phase in which you just see reality for what it is. Right now…every minute an acre of Amozonian rainforest is being destroyed every minute (lungs of our planet) to make space for cattle feed, all the feed can be used to feed the 40,000+ children that die of starvation each year, it takes the equivalent of 2 months of showers to produce pound of beef while some children drink muddy water, there are thousands of petitions of animal torture online and probably a thousand untold stories ,I’ll give you examples a dog pounded and wrapped in tape to die, a dog raped over a period of time with badly prolapsed uterus, a donkey chained to a car and dragged for 5 kilometers, kittens burned alive,crushed …In Asia there is a tradition of making a dog or cat suffer excutiating pain ..skinned fully alive..or boiled alive (ah seen their terrified eyes)millions of them die a year lonely,scared and unseen, 560 billions of animals killed per year for consumption.And then we got the black market.Sex trafficking with kids in the tenths of thousands,pedophiles..Then you got domestic abuse.genocid still goes on in Africa ,war crimes,rape. Ah it all goes on every minute. There has been a battle between good and evil for centuries. The white men destroyed the native civilizations. Now there is speciesism and no respect for nature. I feel its happening for a reason, though.
One’s own philosophy will determine why they feel that such suffering occurs. I certainly don’t have modern answers to the list you provide.
However, I do know that some of the ancients believed that souls suffer on this plane in order to grow spiritually, and to evolve. I can only assume that the entire earth suffers with us because of our intimate connection to her.
Of course, not all agree with this. It depends on one’s philosophy.
I feel we each should work to awaken, and evolve ourselves as much as possible. Having spiritual guides is essential to this.
All of us are at different levels of spiritual development. I won’t give up on the potential good that our fellow journeyers, and myself, may be able to bring to the earth as we grow. And so, I don’t view all humans as evil. We all embody the potential for growth.
Also, the beauty I refer to in my reply, above, is the beauty of the earth itself. I draw inspiration from her.
Going back to the original subject of this post, it was about whether we all have spirit guides, or not.
I feel that we all do.
I just wanted to add that I feel there is much, much more going on in this earthly life, that we all participate in, than meets the eye.
I would not be hanging out at a site like this, nor working on my spiritual development if I had not learned this already.

It’s quite paradoxical is it not? I always pontificate, appealing to better nature as it were yet I’m not very interested in teaching because those who learn figure it out and never have I seen appeals to better nature work, from any person advocating for what is right. But It’s equally just like me to be hopeful anyway. And child, the truth is not at all a lofty aspect to grasp. But it allows me to see that so many lie to themselves because their entire personhood is wrapped in a lie. Which begs the question of “why bother?” but that’s just me, of course.
You have your answer tenfold. Be true to yourself and search only for only truth, uncovering what is within that has shrivelled. You’ll find what you need to, to be whole. We are all surrounded in a world of lies. Even many truths that we, as a general poulation, believe are lies. How can a single truth be revealed when there may be no physical way to prove the truth and to dismiss it as a lie to others? Why do you bother? Is questioning to find truths frowned upon? You make it seem like one should just know a truth without question. You fail to regard that truths can and will differentiate based upon who is perceiving the truth.

I think this is the one that makes most sense. let us elaborate… Pence assumes, therefore he has restricted truth along with his own spiritual growth. By assuming, you are not projecting truth, you are manipulating ideas to be perceived as a truth. This may work for you (in your head alone), but many oppose your truths as you are opposing the truths that I’ve found. No one may be right or wrong to the other. But each one may be very right or strongly opposed by the other. Here lies your paradox.
So, the saying, “ignorance is bliss” is far too cliche for you, I see. But you fail to realize that you too were once blissful in ignorance. You were not born with the knowledge you have learned in this life. And if you were full of truth you would not be restricted by your greed for only you to hold a truth. In fact, if you were the least bit spiritual, you would want to help others heal and learn themselves. Otherwise, you are a simple, greedy, snob.
I’m astounded that you can make such an assumption that others are restricted by not being open to their self. I don’t find that you are very open to your self as well. I see you questioning your self many times. And according to your statements, you have, in ways, called yourself weak. You don’t have just one simple answer for everything. You find the answer that best supports your claim. Even if the answer contradicts what you’ve stated previously. You will always think you win through your sly manipulation. One that will emit a different response from every individual. However, I’d like to suggest the idea that one does not know all and never will. Spiritual growth to me is a journey of discovery. Discovering one’s self and one’s surrounding. Discovering relationships between beings and life. Discovering paths with choices and questioning one’s existence. I don’t think that you have acquired the truthful answers to these questions. And if you have, then that may be the set of answers appropriated for you. Not everyone in this realm of existence, You and you alone.

I feel very centralized within myself and I look within myself every day. I seek meaning and symbolism. I am still questioning my relation to the world. If that makes me weak, please explain your relation to this world and how you’ve discovered that is your truth. I do not wish to appropriate Native American religions. If Native American spirits wish to communicate to me, I will allow with open arms. I hope this is enough to begin to sway the branches of your mind to reveal that I am different. However, I am currently seeking ways to better connect to my guides. My spirit guides in the past have only had very very little communication with me and I long for more information and guidance. I have heard that guides will not appear exactly when requested, but rather more likely when an unconceivable act may begin to occur. This has been my experience with my guides. I desire more communication. I may have tinnitus, or I may have discovered a frequency within my head. I can tune the volume of this frequency higher or lower. I cannot seem to change the actual frequency. could this possibly be earths frequency that I am attuned to? Or do we as beings generate or own frequency awaiting a response from another realm? I feel as if I have a radio, but no one else is on my channel to communicate. Or it may be possible that the communication is so vast and plenty that I cannot understand the incredibly large amount of communication?
All of the disagreements aside, what measures would you suggest for one to seek self discovery and truly look inside their self? I have meditated, I have wiped away most negativity (the negative that is possible to wipe away) in my life. I often feel like a beacon of light for the individuals who surround me. Nature is seemingly frequently trying to communicate with me through totem and element. I often find difficult to understand, as I feel powerful, but restricted in knowledge of spirituality and translation of symbolism. I will admit that you may be right in one place. Knowing and understanding. Here lies another paradox. How may one translate a message if the decoder is not readily available. Initially I try to seek access to decode a message and translate it to something I could understand. But often the messages I receive are very faint. As if I am asked to fly a plane with no arms. A nearly impossible task, but not impossible. I’ve opened myself to many ideas, but truth is the hardest to seek. Truth can be hidden as lies and vice versa. Truth can change from person to person. What may be true for you may not be true for me. What may be a spiritual answer for you may only be a leaf falling off of a tree for me.
Look, now really isn’t the time to play these games with you. If you’ll figure it out, then you will. It doesn’t at all seem like it, but that’s for you to decide. I won’t babysit and waste my time with children hell bent on arguing rather than doing something about it. Pence, I dont view my life as a game. You began this a year ago with strong opposition. Now that you are experiencing opposition you are running. You “don’t have time”. Pence – To conclude a truth, one must argue the possibilities of lies. I don’t intend to have a grande argument. Rather, I would like to see your facts and how you have been guided to truths. You continuously speak of your truths but not how you have concluded them as truths while dismissing truths of others. I do not see this as spiritual guidance. You have desire to prove yourself but have come to this community with no evidence or guidance of your own. Am I wrong to question you? How may one be knowledgeable if they are their only teacher?
I feel like you’ve contradicted yourself, once again. “hell bent on arguing rather than doing something about it.” Is this not what you’ve been doing for an entire year through these posts? I’ve been doing what you’ve been doing for 24 hours now and you fold that easily? What are you doing about it, other than arguing? Now that you’ve had a feel of how you have treated others, you run away faster than a sprite? Take it in and think for just a moment. Let me know if you can open your eyes, just enough, to see that your treatment of others has finally come back to you. Now you cannot handle it. This is how I may conclude you as a weak individual with no spiritual guidance. I would not be surprised if you have never been contacted by spirit and have become full of jealousy that the spirits have ignored you for decades. Leaving you in an absence of life and the only spirits you may call upon are dark and full of the very same greed and lies that you consume and project upon others. YOU CANNOT PROVE ANYTHING other than you’re lies disguised as truths to your higher self. I think someone shall open their eyes, open their mind, and pen their heart if they would like to enjoy any bit of a beacon of light. You are so far in the darkness, i think you’ve forgotten the warmth of light. I bless your unfortunate soul and I hope that one day you will be able to emerge from your shadowy catalyst and begin your transformation to light again. Until you have something of importance to reclaim, I don’t think you have gained validation of your own truths. Just come clean already. Be strong! Find your righteous path! Turn away from the shadows consuming you! There is still time if you still have hope.
Your carelessness and new found silence speak in volumes of your knowledge (or lack there of). Please explain your beliefs of spirituality or I will forever hold your silence as an omittance of all of your false claims. You showed up to this community with an agenda to falsify ones beliefs. Now that I have falsified your beliefs, you no longer care. Honestly, I am not surprised, as this is common for folks of similar minds when true opposition presents its face. You have not been able to explain yourself, your truths, or your existence. Why should anyone believe a single word your shadow vessel squeaks?

Raven, you are most welcome. Pence’s comments were so very derogatory and contradicting themselves. He had continued to omit his personal experiences to validate any of his negative comments. A few of my comments were, surely, over the top and some slightly uncalled for. However, i feel they were necessary to show Pence how he has been treating others. As you can see, he did not like it much! If he were attuned to his higher self, he would have no need or desire to discredit the work or experiences of others. He is not as grounded as he claims to be. He is, seemingly, suffering from the duality of this realm and cannot quite separate fully from his ego. His ego has caused some level of ill intent against your personal claims and his judgement is so very harsh. An eye for an eye may leave us blind, but i would rather serve justice than my own ego.
Since those recent posts, I’ve continued on my own, newfound, journey. I’ve acquired several crystals to help in my journey. Luckily, I live near the Herkimer Diamond Mines and have been able to extract a Herkimer Diamond myself, over a decade ago! Until recently, I had never known how powerful this quartz can be. Its clarity is amazing and has helped raise my own frequency. Yesterday, I’ve spoken to a medium while searching for other specific crystals. I had not paid for a service to speak to this medium. However, my guardians, angels, and spirits are very loud and always have something to say when i near a medium. She was actually in a session with another individual when i went to the store. I noticed that I had a feeling that i needed to stay there until she was done with her client, so I may speak to her. I was able to learn just a few vague cliff notes of a past life of mine. She mentioned a man in full military uniform was around (possibly my paternal grandfather) A woman who keeps tugging on my clothes is near me. She claimed her name was Chameillia (possibly my great aunt Carmella she used to go by the shortened name Millie, but I have had no profound attachment to her while in the physical world other than her being the deceased sister to my maternal grandfather) and she had mentioned that my spirit guide is an asian with whom i have studied geography with (I have not had many connections with any Asians in this life, so, it may be possible that he was a teacher or companion in a past life of mine). She was surprised at one point and mentioned that i have had several close calls with death, this is true.
I still have not had conscious communication with my spirit guides, but i have had small messages of serenity and security in my past through animals. My knowledge of this spiritual world is very elementary and i have a lot to learn. I’ve become attuned to a high pitch frequency that is never-ending. If i focus on raising my vibration, this frequency becomes louder and vibrates at a higher frequency. I joke to myself that i am tuned in to angel radio, but have not been able to turn to the right channel. Again, i am very new to this. I do not have any life changing emotional experience at this point in time other than my new found pursuit to ancient knowledge along with the pursuit of self-discovery. There are so many questions that i have, but i too suffer from separating from duality. I just have not been able to be successful at communication to this date. I do understand that this takes time to develop. I can feel a presence at times. I sometimes feel a chill swarm over me. Or i may become filled with emotions to the point of wanting to cry for no physical or understandable reason. I desire so much, yet i have been given so little to believe in. I am persevering and still believing. The spirits can see this and i know they are with me. I am in a period of waiting while in this hell. I may need to show and follow my faith better or in new ways.
If you have any suggestions on how i may better practice communicating with my spirit guide, i would greatly appreciate it!

If you really meditated and actually thought, then you would’ve come to the conclusion that everything, every argument, every idea has two sides to it, and therefore has an infinite amount of sides to it. The truth is your idea could be correct, and raven belote’s idea could be correct. Even the blending of the two is probably the most correct. Every where you look, there are always two answers. So please do not assume a insignificant position for a pointless reason. “Catcher in the Rye” is a great book to read from btw. The theory behind spiritual energy is that there is only possibility, and utilized directions.

In actuality, no. Often on things that are so very clear cut, but skewered in our society, the answer – truth, is very simple when applied with free mind. Some just prefer the lie that benefits themselves and are so enamoured that the truth becomes the divisive lie to be obscured. I needed not meditation to understand that. No matter how painful the search for truth has been I have not shied from a single realisation. And I have found nothing to give the idea that I was wrong in this. I only see more. Concepts that work in a perfect world do not work in the one we live in, and acting as if they do only serve to obfuscate the trials and actual lies of which plague us today and hold us back. I’d ask why so many seem to want to hide behind platitudes and not see the light, but I fear I may know the answer. Perhaps it’s a flaw to always search for the absolute truth, but it means you will have to use the real world and living beings, to prove me wrong, rather than forcing idealism that overlaps the true suffering in the real world and shuffles it away.
I find my own idealism insufferable in this world. I used to want to wish it away seeing how much deceit and pain there is, never allowing the world to move forward. I no longer do. My ideals drive me, moving the cogs of logic and understanding, tempered by emotion and conviction. I
t also allows me to not be swayed by ideals not motivated by anything of good that benefits others. Ideals not rooted in possibility, and therefore not possible. I can’t believe in ideals that aren’t rooted in reality. Even my lofty ones may still exist, as they once did at some time.
With humans, much is clear cut. We are different, and splintered from what actually is, child. The central nexus is something you have to be attuned to as we are now. Humanity cannot assume to be connected without putting the work in to allow our inner selves worthy of connection. You have to look inside to do that. Understand yourself, and you can understand others. Accept all that is within you and then I, and the answer for our kind is simple. There is only work to do from then on.
But as I have asked many times – is it even possible for you to truly look inside yourself? Will you truly do so? Can you even admit to yourself whether your identity is wrought in truth or lie? Only you can make that step. The truth is there if you really wish to see it. Will you hide? Even some spirits do, if it benefits them.
There is so much greed, deceit, hatred and endless entitlement this world. That’s not my side. And that’s not one I believe in, nor legitimise. As much as I dream; I won’t lose sight of the way ahead, nor reality lest people suffer for my own foolishness and dishonest misappropriations of equality. There is much work to be done.

This claim that most people do not have spirit guides is more-so a reflection of your own thoughts. The fact that a spirit would lend an ear to someone as repulsive and noncompliant as you is astounding. Continue to speak to your rogue demon and continue to build upon your veil of lies.
Do not waste your energy any further on this. Your argument falls upon deaf ears.. This is because you are speaking words of enlightened consciousness to a darkened mind/soul. We must be mindful of the spiritual balance… We are the light, to which the darkness will reply. By acknowledging it we are feeding it’s energy, thus granting it the power it seeks. The truth they speak of may in fact be the truth for themselves, and in fact this is the reality for many dark workers. They have allowed themselves to succumb to all the “unjusts”, while we will continue to see the good and just. The most significant connection/discovery I have made with my spirit guide was achieved through psychoactive journeying. My friends that I shared my experience with suggested that she was the Hindu god Kali, although I interpreted her as being Gaia, or Mother Earth. I will also add, that I wasn’t really searching for my spirit guide when she appeared.
Well, I was laying in the middle of my backyard in the grass, staring at the blue sky. When suddenly, out of nowhere, she floated up from behind a huge tree in my yard. Her skin was blue, and she was wearing native american type clothing. She danced in the sky waving her arms, which i think gave her the effect of having “multiple arms”. She then exclaimed to me with intense joy “I’m so excited I finally got to meet you!.. I’ve waited for so long!..”. She then blew me a kiss, spun around, and vanished. leaving sparkles in the sky behind her.
I was completely filled with a sense of pure ecstasy, as i tried to contemplate what i just witnessed. I immediately got up and explained my experience to my friend. He then said that i just saw “Lucy in the sky with diamond”! It does make sense because she left sparkles in the sky after she vanished.
To this day I cant really say who or what exactly she was, but I feel like Gaia would be the closest match. Simply because of the nature filled environment I was in during the experience. Definitely an absolutely beautiful experience.
I came back form the garden to read this article and I notice a smal spider on my hand, I felt love for this small animal and I brought direct back to the garden. a small spider most have freedom to live , not indoors. :)
… and who knows, perhaps a symbolic guide of some sort?
Light beings, been therefor me since I was 3 or 4 years old, I see them and interact with them till today’s.
Many people used to refer it as (the imaginary friend) a child plays with, except… they weren’t imaginary and still they are not.
As I almost faced death 3 times in my life, I see Life different, just different enough to realize how important is to stop to enjoy every single second we are here and knowing that living alone with out feeling loneliness is something telling us we are not really alone ;)

Hey, So I’m the type of person who was raised in a christian household.
It feels weird to make a public comment about this, yet here I god.
Can you have multiple spirit guides?
From a young age I’ve always walked with other people in my mind, that are able to be beside me as I’ve grown up.
Imaginary friends are what most people call them.
Yet I know them too this day, some of them have faded into nothing more than soft touches and warm feelings, while others are stronger and more influential than ever.
No I’m not psychotic, this is not a MPD.
They simply exist in a world that overlaps common reality to me.
I consider myself a sort of Seer, from nightmares I gain visions of negative realities that could happen if I don’t take part in set events.
They always happen if I ignore them.
Sometimes as simple as my mother breaking her phone, a tire going flat, getting an F on an exam paper.
These people, these friends of mine, are my guides through the nightmares.
They help me through casual reality as well, I say casual reality because I refer to the reality that everyone experiences the same.
There are quite a few of them, and they come in sets.
Two lovers, two females that love each other through death.
Three children, a trio of girls who share personalities that compliment and help each other through every hardship.
Three friends, Two girls and a younger version of myself. who I view as the alternate sides of my past and present.
My Great Grandmother, who I am named after (She died two years before me, and I feel as if my soul is partially shared with her. Even from a young age I knew facts about her that most of my family said I should not of. I even remember meeting her in my dreams as a child, though my grandmother was very very sure that it could not of happend. )
Whenever someone talks about her there is a soft.. whoosh from inside of me.
A gentle shout of joy that warms my heart when I think of her.
Is it possible that all of these are spirit guides? If not are they just my imagination or more?
They are all ‘real’ to me.
As I was reading the shadow self articles,
That Trio, the two friends and the me of my past?
I can say that one of the girls, is my shadow self.
The other is the me I wish to be, and the other is the me at that point in time that I was introduced to the darkness that birth Her, the shadow side of me.
I have always used the saying “I’m in love with chaos, Chaos is in love me.” Now, they have names.
Lexelle, or Lexy, the Shadow self. The dark bitch who is always there when someone wrongs me, who I have to refer to as a ‘bitch’ because that’s all she ever wants to be. Someone who uses people and is always in the way of the potential of the better half of me.
Jess, My real name is Jesse – but as I’ve grown and taken to a more gentler, kinder, less chaotic side of myself- I’ve started to take the name Jess.
She’s the healer of chaos, everything lexelle ever has done, or ever will do. Jess counter acts it, an apology to every wrong. A bandaid to every scrape, two entities that coexist inside my alternate reality that leak in through my actions.
A flirty smirk would be Lexy, a soft smile Jess.

Jess, I think it could be very possible that the helpers you come across are spirit guides. I am personally one to believe that ours is not the only realm and plateau of existence and reality (to me the belief that this is all we have is narrow and naive). I have personally experienced and gone into other “dimensions” during my shamanic journeys and it truly is mind blowing. It sounds crazy to those who haven’t experienced such alternate states of reality, but for those who have, it is normal. So I believe it is very likely the “things” you experience are spirit guides, perhaps ancestors, perhaps beings that haven’t even been listed here.
It is also good that you have come to know your shadow self, but beware of over-dramatizing it or fantasizing it. Our shadow selves must be explored and integrated into our lives so that we can become whole and healed.

That’s exactly how it’s been for me, too, since childhood. And yes, other people would call them “invisible friends”, but your guides have been walking with you, and making themselves known since childhood.
My own personal conclusion of why this starts for us at such a young age is because we have been working with them in past lives. Our souls have already been doing the work of shaman, or seer (as you put it), and so we naturally need to be reminded by them to continue the work we’ve already started.
You’re on the right path from what I can see. Just keep on walking…

I have had a warm relationship with my guides ever since my early twenties, when I moved out from home on to live on my own. I was a full skeptic those days and I hadnยดt even heard about spirit guides but I experienced so much synchronicity that I started to believe that the “coincidences” are not coincidendes, they are guidance. So, Iยดve learnt to be very alert, when I run into such situations.
I had a massive spiritual transformation at the age of 32 and I think my guides changed those days. They started to give me guidance through dreams. I had a very intense 2-year phase, during which I was often at “dream school” in order to learn spiritual lessons which I had missed earlier. The guides never preached, they just gave me a riddle or task to solve and I solved it in waking life. So, even though I read a lot of spiritual and psychological literature those days, the guides were more important. They pointed out, what was relevant for me at each moment. After that, they have been around less, but if their is something important going on in my life, they do show up.
Iยดve never really seen my spirit guides, but sometimes Iยดve heard their voices. One is a really professor-type male with detached but really knowledgable personality.
I know that folks have other methods to contact their guides, meditation and channeling being quite common. Some people have got major teachings during a OBE or near death experience and even during a psychedelic trip. However, guides are usually available even when you donยดt try to contact them or donยดt know anything about spiritual practices. Some people are not very sensitive to their messages, though. Guides are different and have different methods with their guidees. I just read about the life of Socrates and he obviously had a close relationship to his guide, which in Greek was called a daemon. His guide showed up only when he was about to make a mistake, never otherwise.
It must be exciting at night to think that you might come in contact with these guides Lady. Who knows what or who else you will come across in your life?

Another amazing writing by the Great Aletheia Luna. I believe dreams are very special and connects we humans to God (or whatever higher power we believe in) and taps into our super-conscious. Often before I sleep I pray to God and then ask to be shown certain things such as past life experiences, my spirit guides, or just to guide me in my life. Then I meditate until I fall asleep. It doesn’t happen often, but I’ve had dreams of different places in the world I’ve never been to or even heard of. Upon awakening I’d write down immediately with excitement what I remembered from the dream, for example; the town name, main roads, mountains, lakes, and/or other formations that was in the dream. After doing thorough research I was able to find that 4 places I visited while dreaming ACTUALLY DO EXSIST! The other dreams didn’t give me enough information to actually place it on the map. I think this is called etheric travel? That gave me proof that dreams are more than regurgitated images of our daily life. So that’s how I know it was real when I met my 3 Spirit Guides while dreaming, definitely light beings. They looked human but had a light around each of them, something like wings. The dream was so vivid it was like I was awake. We were in a room just talking, I wrote down everything I could remember when I awoke, feeling so alive and holy. They told me so much amazing information about my life/lives and that we actually lived lives together long ago, but won’t bore you with all the details since it was mostly about me. They are always with me, I’m so thankful for them and for those amazing experiences, I’m extremely blessed. I’m just so happy to finally be able to share this super-conscious experience and just hope I’m not alone!!! :)
Sally, that is amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever received that amount of detail in my dreams, although recently my dreams have all taken on a strange turn of events where I am constantly traveling to far off lands. It’s wonderful that you could have such a profound experience. I hope you continue having them, and perhaps meet other spirit guides as well!
Maybe. In my early age I used to mess with tarot cards when I got myself into some trouble (having night terror – waking up at the exact same time – feeling that heavy presence). First my dead father came and told me to stop, twice, in my dream….I kept on doing the same activity…my grandmother came once and told me to stop. Kept going. Then day I woke up feeling my apartment all heavy. Then as I was going to classes, I found a cat sitting in front of my door insisting to get inside my apartment. After a few days refusing to let the cat in, it insisted still- then I let it in….The cat went into my apartment, went straight under my bed. After 30 sec or so I felt something rushed out that I couldn’t even see, the cat rushed after it out the door. To never see the cat anymore- ever again.

Maybe your experiences are just saying that this isn’t the right time for you to be working with the cards.
