10 Universal Problems Old Souls Experience

by Mateo Sol ยท Updated: Jul 8, 2023 ยท 280 Comments

My first insight into the feeling of being internally old occurred during adolescence.

I felt unusually different from the kids around me, somehow older, but ‘mature’ wasn’t exactly the right word.ย  The best way I could describe it back then was as though I had lived hundreds of years of life which had been condensed into 16 years of time.

As the years went by, I encountered a few Old Souls who I shared my experiences with.ย  I would talk about my insights and introduce them to the concept of Old Souls.ย  One of these people was Luna.ย  She was so excited about it that she eventually wrote the well-received article 9 Signs You’re An Old Soul as well as a subsequent Old Soul Book.

In my years of mentoring Old Souls and helping them through their spiritual development, I’ve witnessed a number of issues. I want to mention that it’s important to remember thatย having an Old Soul doesn’t necessarily equate to being ‘all-knowing’ or perfect.ย  Rather, it’s an indication of the age of the energy known as your soul. With that being said, these are some of the biggest problems I’ve seen, and personally experienced:

Spiritual Wanderer Course:

โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ "I started the Spiritual Wanderers Course a short while ago and for the first time in twelve years I have started to experience love, acceptance and compassion for myself and within myself. Thank you so much." โ€“ Vivienne S.

1#ย  You’re a Social Outcast

As with anyone who perceives the world differently from others, Old Souls can experience a great (and unending) sense of isolation.ย  Because they fail to fit into the standards that society admires and values (careers, materialism, status and so forth), they’re commonly seen as strange, offbeat and unconventional.

2#ย  You’re the “Black Sheep”

While Old Souls can build many strong relationships with people, their penetrating ability to connect with the depths of the people in their lives can create many enemies.ย  Seeing deeply into the core issues of the people around them, Old Souls feel an innate desire to be truthful, even if this means revealing uncomfortable truths such as the fact that many problems are caused by immaturity, or a failure to take responsibility.

Those who are willing to change will listen and like you, while the rest will feel great disdain towards you.ย  This is why Old Souls often become the “devils advocates” or “black sheep” of their friends or family.

3#ย  You Often Get Mislabeled

If there’s something we all love and are good at, it’s labeling people.ย  We fool ourselves into thinking we can “know” someone by attributing a label to them.ย  However, humans are far too complex to be boxed into a specific and unchanging group of people.ย  In this case, Old Souls will often be given different labels, from “beatniks” to “hippies”, “anarchists” to “new age freaks“.

While you can’t fight labels, you can try to use them in a positive way.ย  Labels can be used as signposts, as directions towards awareness of some quality many of us share.ย  These qualities will be different in intensity and strength in each of us, but at least they will help us understand ourselves (and the people around us) a bit better.

This is partly why I called the Old Soul Group “I’m an Old Soul” – not so people can gain egotistical pride with such a label, but to create a sense of self-awareness, to allow people to better understand themselves.

4# You Speak an Entirely Different Language

Words are symbols we each load with our own unique definitions according to our own unique life experiences that are associated with each word.ย  What I associate with love might be entirely different from what you associate with love.ย  For example: When someone thinks about love, they might remember their old failed relationship and feel a terrible sense of vulnerability when the word arises, while others might associate love with loyalty and friendship.

Shadow & Light Membership:

โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ "Receiving these messages is a beacon of light and hope for me in currently very challenging times. The words of wisdom speak right to my soul, guiding and encouraging me further on my path. I highly recommend Shadow & Light to everyone who seeks to develop and cultivate a relationship with the Inner Self." โ€“ Karin

Old Souls realize this limitation, and therefore greatly struggle to express entirely what they want to say, knowing that it’s as though they are speaking an entirely different language from others.

5#ย  You Are Prone to Intense Existential Crises

I have sometimes witnessed cases where Old energy is born into the body of a person who does not have the matching mental maturity to embrace it.ย  This can result in depressions, substance abuse and existential crisis’s.

When a person realizes that everything is transitional and passing, life can become pointless.ย  This person sees that our bodies are temporary vessels that don’t really matter, and without the ability to cultivate self-love, self-destructive habits can result.

In this case, it’s necessary to undergo intense spiritual-growth, to cultivate existential meaning and inner-understanding through inner work in order to learn how to embrace your soul.

6#ย  You Easily Become Emotionally Drained

With the wisdom and patience that comes with being an Old Soul, there also comes others people’s desire to use you as a dumping ground for their emotions.ย  I’ve experienced this a lot in my own life, often experiencing emotionally-charged conversations that last for hours at a time.ย  Some Old Souls also double as Empaths, which can also take a great toll on your energy.

7#ย  You’re Prone to Becoming Mentally Drained

In the search for truth, deeper understanding and inner exploration of yourself and the world around you, it is common for the Old Soul to experience a lot of mental fatigue.ย  Double this with acting as a mediator between people and their problems, and you’ll end up exhausted at the end of the day.

#8ย  You Struggle to Find a Kindred Spirit

If making friends who connect with you is difficult, finding a kindred spirit, soul mate, or life partner, can be even more of a challenge.ย  It took me living in 6 different countries to find Luna.

But it’s not always as hard as that.ย  Having the wisdom to discern the true depths of your connection with a person will be your greatest asset in the area of love.

#9ย  You’re Crippled By Possibilities

As we grow in maturity our perception of possibilities and explanations expands: we see life from limitless angles.ย  This means that we see more than one way of doing things which makes us unfailingly indecisive as we see the full expanse of possibilities, and the lack of absolutes. Although making decisions and judgments can be a crippling experience, this can double as a virtue, allowing us to understand that we can’t simply judge people by face value, and that they are the result of millions of internal and external influences.

#10ย  You Yearn For a Place to Belong

For some Old Souls, the world feels alien.ย  They find it hard to understand people, why such chaos and misery exists and how it is allowed, and sometimes encouraged, to continue. They long to find a place where they feel like they belong, a space filled with freedom and liberation.ย  This often results in the feeling that this world is not their true home.

Would you like to save this?

We'll email this article to you, so you can come back to it later!

Your information will never be shared.

Regardless of which of the above problems you may come across, these struggles will affect your life a lot less when you grow in inner understanding and acceptance.

The stronger your ability to channel and use the Old energy that is latent within you, the greater your capacity will be to aid in the continuation and evolution of your soul.

Please feel free to share your experiences below.

There was something almost mysterious about this woman. Her face had lots of wrinkles. These were the first things to catch your eye, but they didnโ€™t make her look old. Instead, they emphasized a certain youthfulness in her that transcended age. The wrinkles belonged where they were, as if they had been part of her face since birth. When she smiled, the wrinkles smiled with her; when she frowned, the wrinkles frowned, too. And when she was neither smiling nor frowning, the wrinkles lay scattered over her face in a strangely warm, ironic way. ~ Haruki Murakami (Norwegian Wood)

    I’ll attempt a slightly different version… :)

    1. Old souls see the divine in everything, and everything as being equally divine – the boob job as well as the peak spiritual experience.

    2. Just like life, old souls can thrive into any environment, even those that don’t agree with them or outright reject them.

    3. Old souls own their power and confidence to make things happen, to make themselves thrive as well as those around them.

    4. Old souls don’t really feel “young” or “old”. They know themselves just as immortal and eternal as life itself, and have learnt to just “flow with it”, for maximum experience, pleasure and enjoyment of being alive.

    5. While they know their connection with everything, old souls have learnt to differentiate between their own energy fields and that of others. And thus, they are self-contained, and freely and joyously exchange energy with others. They cannot get drained because they are conscious of aware of their connection with source, which is always overflowing and abundant.

It’s just a matter of dropping all that goodness into the physical. That’s a different story of course, but we are always learning, evolving and growing are n’t we? :P

Those are some great insights into the Old Soul experience Fardin :).

It’s funny, but the Old Soul experience usually isn’t something you think about very much. Their signs that make you feel unusual, and awakening to the experience when you explore deep within yourself but then you continue to flow with it, with life.

Often though some get lost on their way to the center, and it takes articles like this to remind them that it’s perfectly fine, and just part of the growth process.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom and experience, I’m sure many more will enjoy it.

I’m with you here, and yes it is all ok, and we can choose to just flow with whatever is happening. At the same time though, it’s hard to allow our gifts to flow forth when we are not in our centre. Most of the things you speak about here happen when we are not in our centre and allowing the world to define us and how we feel. I have been on that cycle for long enough to acknowledge that is hard to break. :)

At the same time, we have to own who we are. I think you will agree that it is hard to do the work we came here to do in a position where we are not owning our power. When I look at the world, and all these things that appal us about it, I notice one thing. The world paradigm that we have in front of us is being created by people who are certain of “being right”. They don’t question themselves. They like their McDonald’s, their fighting, competition and what not. They are convinced of it, no self-doubt there. :) And so the world is being created for us, while we sit on the sidelines feeling out of place, lonely and what not.

Talk about being between a rock and a hard place, yea… You’ve summarized things pretty well at the end of the article. I just want to add that quantum leaps are possible every time we go within, let the light within us shine and define ourselves and our reality rather than what is “out there”. I am reminded of the image of a delicate little flower that grows our of a pile of garbage.

Life will grow out of us, through us, no matter what. Sometimes, we just have to be careful that we are nurturing our flower with water and other nutrients that are needed rather than running around with a pair of scissors. And that begins with being aware and conscious of where we place our thoughts and attention…

        Cheers. :)

          Hola Fardin,

I’m happy to see you’ve found that insight about yourself. The centering of Old Souls does affect every aspect of their progression, including these problems. But I find centering, whether Old Souls, Mature or even young, helps anyone overcome whatever struggles have arisen in their minds.

To begin to question yourself, your eating habits, beliefs and values first you have to reach a certain level of soul age. Some of us are fortunate to have cultivated our soulful energy in past lives, others haven’t had as much time for the cultivation. Hence my desire to create Involution, a system to encourage that cultivate and promote the aging of the souls.

Nobody ever consciously choose to “awaken” to start questioning this social conditioning, a series of events occurs, sometimes even tragedies that force us to mature quicker or enter self-destructive systems of denial. I suppose that could bee seen as the power of Old Souls, while working on our self, to try and help those who are receptive and at the right moment of their spiritual maturity to embrace that change.

Quantum leaps are possible at any moment as you suggest, but our spiritual selves develops at a different pace to our psychological selves. The problems listed above are psychological ones, external factors that have influenced our internal way of looking at things. It will be a lot easier to experience a quantum leap when a person has actively worked on overcoming their psychological barriers, than trying to force a quantum leap when they are constantly distracted by them.

I thoroughly enjoy the gardeners analogy to the cultivation of our inner gardens, to be a gardener of souls is to have master your ability of self-love. :)

Thank you for sharing your light.

OMG! i can’t believe this, it totally describes me! i feel so relieved! i’ve been called an old soul about half a dozen times in my 47 years, the first time was when i was about 13 by my high school principal. As i’ve matured i realised i have never understood human beings, and always been frustrated that nobody in this world has ever understood me! now i think i understand… wow!

      Hola Lynda,

You are in good company, so many people live through their lives trying to pin point exactly what it is they know intuitively but haven’t processed consciously.

I look forward to reading more of your comments in our future Old Soul articles :).

I don’t find much to agree with here, especially point 10 – I actually bristle at the fact that I might be lumped into a group called Involutionary Outsiders.

      Hola Cethera,

There’s no need to agree with this article. If you haven’t experienced any of these problems, how would you agree with them?

Involutionary Outsiders is an entirely different experience to being an Old Soul, it has more to do with spiritual awakening and the “outsider” detached feeling from our social environments that comes with it.

Thank you for commenting none the less, it gives me a chance to clear the confusion of Old Souls and Involutionary Outsiders for anyone else that might have interpreted it that way.

Shouldn’t an old soul by definition be a teacher. If they are still uncomfortable in there skin, the y are not done. I`m sure we are never done but an old soul should be good at this small stuff. Please tell me they get the big picture and can enlighten my young soul.

      Hola Stacy,

It would seem that Old Souls should all have the maturity to teach. But having an Old Soul doesn’t necessary imply that the person has managed to match their spiritual maturity with their psychological one. I’ve come across plenty of Old Souls who haven’t developed coping abilities for their problems and use all kinds of escape and denial mechanism.

It’s only when an Old Soul learns to harmonize their soulful age with their psychological age that they develop the wisdom to be able to teach others.

    Mateo,

I want to thank you and Luna profusely for developing this fascinating and enlightening website that has expanded into an inspirational community. I’ve only just discovered this tonight, and I’ve poured over countless articles, hungrily devouring each and every one of them. I think my excitement towards this site is because I connect with it on a level I’ve really never experienced before. Certainly, I’ve found communities where I relate, but this website has really put it into perspective as to -why- I’ve connected, and why that’s a rarity.

    I’m an old soul.

It feels so liberating. My mother has long said that I’m an old soul, so the concept itself is not new. From my very early years, she said she knew. I just never really thought about the term and what it truly meant, though.

I’ve always recognized the concept of “souls” and believe strongly in such. I’ve always felt like the life I’m currently living isn’t my first – I truly believe I’ve lived previous lives. (I feel centuries old, perhaps millenniums) I think that life is such a beautiful thing.

I remember back whenever I attended a Christian church as a child, I constantly questioned -why-. Why are we here? I was always told that we live lives on Earth in order to gain entrance into Heaven. The only way to do this was through obeying a book written a few thousand years ago. There was little room to deviate. I’ve realize the life of organized religion is NOT for me. Spirituality, however, is. My spiritual journey is only just beginning.

Anyway, previous ramblings aside, I wanted to comment on the fact that every single point in this article resonates with me. I never belonged in school. Certainly, I’m a very good “chameleon” – I made “friends” with the right people to advance my standings and ended up as President of three clubs and cabinet members of the rest, as well as a 4.0 GPA. I graduated high school this past May, and have finally had time to reflect on my school experiences. While my resume is impressive, and while I gained acceptance into my “dream school”, I really don’t understand why. Great, I’m going to college (this Friday, actually). I’m studying Environmental Studies and Global Issues. I want to protect the planet and help the less fortunate. I have no real plan, though. No “job” that I want after graduation. I don’t want to be tethered in position for the rest of this lifetime. I want to experience and make an impact.

I don’t want to be stuck.

I could go on and on, but I’ll save it. Thank you for showing me there are others out there – that I’m not alone. It’s kind of amazing.

    Peace & good vibes,
    Bre, 18

      Hola Bre,

Your thirst for knowledge shows the willpower of the seeker. I’m honored you like our work and appreciate our effort to bring together a spiritual community from different paths and journeys.

Many spiritual seekers begin seeking without first understanding where they are starting from. How are they going to find where to go unless they first know where they are? That’s a key aspect of Old Souls, the element that creates that spiritual thirst and desire for understanding .

As another reader put it below, life is the ultimate recycling center. The energy of our souls keeps coming and going, but it never leaves this universe.

I am not a supporter of religions, but I am a supporter and promoter of ‘Religiousness”. In my experience, religions are based on books full of words, but those words died with the master who spoke them. The moment the master isn’t there, alive, breathing, explaining and guiding…those words can be interpreted in any way they want but souls who didn’t have the maturity of the master to understand the depth of what was meant. Hence you have such a chaotic world; all with religions with masters who spoke about love and unity, and yet the interpreters have created endless wars and deaths surrounding those words.

You’re not alone, that’s a dilemma I faced after leaving high school. I had scholarships available to me to study psychology but I didn’t feel that was my calling, my path. I’ve taken the road less traveled by; solving the immediate problems of those in need is of great importance but is a symptom.

Raising awareness of the ability to spiritually grow and change the way we look at the world is the disease that causes those symptoms. So far I haven’t regret my choice as I’ve felt that our work has been worth while.

Feel free to keep us informed of your progression through the experience of college and what you learn about yourself through it.

      Luz,

      Sol

        Hi Sol,

Thank you so much for your kind reply – you’ve really given me a lot to think about! I especially liked the line “How are they going to find where to go unless they first know where they are?” It’s a truly beautiful thought – we must understand where we are now in order to progress. I think we get so caught up on the future, that we forget that the only time we’re living is in the present. I know I’m guilty of this, but I’m working on living in the now. :)

I completely agree with your views on religiousness – I’ve never thought about it quite like that, but you hit the nail on the head. I pride myself on being accepting of other religions and such, but I do forget that even if some of those who practice the religions come across as radical (and downright terrible, in some situations), the root of what they’re doing is still “good” (in the basic sense of love). I forget that a lot, and it’s caused much strain in my family. So thank you for reminding me and for putting it into perspective that some souls simply aren’t mature enough to deeply understand!

I would certainly agree that your work has been worthwhile! I’m biding my time now – trying to discover more about myself (being in a radically new environment should help that). We’ll see where the road takes me.

        Much love,
        Bre

          Hola Bre,

That’s very true, our minds get absorbed in future present moments that do not exist. Ironically we think of this journey as a path when in fact you’re not really moving at all, you stand still and the world continues to flow. Our reality seems to be more of a play of ‘attention’, wherever our mind is focused on that is where we think of ourselves as going when we are merely just using our present moment attention and creating stories of future past.

In the Hindu religion as well as many shamanic practices, we believe that the reality we experience is more like a dream. Each person has their dream, of what is good and what is bad, what they believe in and what they don’t, who’s right and who’s wrong. This dream is created through our conditioning and upbringing. Everyone lives in their own dream and interpretation of what the world is like and it’s easy to forget that. I applaud your honesty to realize and accept when you’ve made a mistake.

Let me know how your journey unfolds :),

          Luz and Love,

          Sol

thanks for the article. Every single thing mentioned is my story. There has been times, where I thought I was crazy – even psycologists have labeled me ” inmature & psycotic “..
Many times I spoke to a fellow human, that mentioned a sentence or word, fitting my perspective, I happily shared something in the line or just continued on a deeper level, I realized by their look at me, they didn’t get it.
I have been “escaping” in chemical nomeness” ending up in a addiction, that has enslaved me..
At this moment, I feel that using drugs are keeping me away from what I really am supposted to do, and on the other hand, walking among the “outcast” gives me an opportunity to tuen on the Light, where the would be none, if I didn’t come. Recently I had an expansion of the senses and I gave the experience to another too. I found out I can guide others into expansion experiences just by intuition. But at the same time I feel dispair, that I can’t let go of use of stimuli. I really feel they are holding me back and away from “the real Light of God”
At times I feel very old but also I behaive like I haven’t been here for millenar.
Be the Grace of God and in the Name of Jesus The Christ, I thank you and bless your work..

      Hola Steffen,

Psychologist have their time and place, but when it comes to spiritual matters most of them are quite clueless. There’s a reason Jung was such an outcast within the psychologist groups, yet his work changed the way we look at the mind completely.

LonerWolf is our attempt to provide a place for people who have been outcasted because of their ability to see the world and experience it differently. I can perfectly understand your frustration when it comes to trying to community with others about these topics that you care about.

Drugs should never be used as a way of escaping or numbing yourself. They can fool you into thinking that because you experience an altered state of consciousness…significant things are happening within you, you experience sensations that reflect your intellectual understanding of what spirituality is. But unless done at the right time, under the right guidance, they become more a stimuli hindrance than a spiritual aid.

First you must learn to tap into that inner ‘divine’ light naturally, through a deep inner peace and non-resistance towards life. Then once that is accomplished can you, if chosen, use certain substances to expand that discovery more deeply.

Thank you Steffen for being honest about your struggles and showing such will to explore yourself further to attain higher growth. I look forward to seeing how you progress with this.

I’ve experienced many of these problems over these last 2 or 3 years, especially ones such as #5, #6 and #9. And with those problems, I’ve learned many lessons about life and interaction with others that you care about.
I’ve seen that many problems, internal or external, your own or those of someone else, are, at their core, temporary and passing. So many wonderful things, from trampolines to ice cream, planet-colors to imperfections of grass. I’ve found all of these simple, beautiful things to be far more important and meaningful than the ideas of struggling over money or social-awkwardness. The pure fact that those simplistic things exist, and still exist no matter how bad a person’s doing, has kept me going through the most difficult of times.
I’ve been using concepts like this to try and assist my friends in looking past their problems, to see the forest beyond the trees and the stars beyond the forest. Not many of my attempts were successful, always receiving a “but…” after an extended explanation of life-beauty that just tied right back into the same problem. But, I’m not troubled by how others forget such things in their times of trial. I know, or like to think I know, that one way or another, people will learn to see the red of a rose, and that the night sky is not a dome covered in little lights, but a window to the expanse around and beyond ourselves. I am pleased to sit by my friends, smiling without a reason, as we all learn how this “life” thing really works.
Thanks for listening to this teenager ramble, and cheers to all you souls, young and old.

      Hola Gene,

I am so happy to see teenage Old Souls becoming aware and embracing this part of themselves, it’s often the hardest years for Old Souls to overcome.

To try and maturely explain the ephemeral nature of life is often unsuccessful, many people haven’t yet seen “too deep and too much” to understand what you’re trying to say. The understand it of course logically, but understanding with the mind, and understanding through experience of your being are entirely different things. A logical conclusion doesn’t drive any action, only a person who deeply understands to their bones what your saying will be shaken up by it.

Keep enjoying the beauty in the small things; all roads lead nowhere, it’s the journey you make out of them that counts.

This article really resonates with me. Too often do I find myself feeling alone, even when I am surrounded by people that I know care about me. I’ve been in existential crisis for several years now without discovering what could remedy it. I do not fear death, and feel like my life is nothing but a brief spark that will fizzle out shortly within existence. That is not to say I hasten or welcome my death, but life seems to me to be a short, fleeting experience. Even if it is all my empirical mind could possibly know.

My question is thus: How does one know which tools of the heart to use to cultivate self-love and fulfillment in one’s life? The longer I remain in this state, the more I realize that I need to commit myself to something greater than myself; I need to find something to be passionate about. I haven’t found what makes my soul sing, and I don’t know where to begin.

Also, I partially disagree with #9. Being aware of the manifold possibilities around you, and having that foresight to see possible outcomes to your actions and thoughts, does not necessarily entail an indecisiveness. It should also entail an understanding that, “every path is the right path”. Right and wrong is entirely subjective to the human experience, and inconsequential after death. Knowing that, you could decisively follow your heart, or your mind, or the spirit. If you are consistently listening to your inner self, any choice you make will take you where you NEED to be.

      Hola Lucas,

To often we become so absorbed in the suffering (because it’s so heavy in us) that we find it very difficult to look elsewhere, to do something else without constantly remembering how isolated we feel. This suffering gets in the way of allowing ourselves to be completely absorbed in the present moment, resulting in a feeling of never quite ridding yourself of that heaviness within.

All of our lives are brief sparks of light that will extinguish with our deaths, but the question is; why do some fixate in how brief it is and others celebrate the magnitude of it? In other words; some worry about the quantity of life, and others experience such quality and depth of it that the quantity does’t matter?

You are entirely right in that choice. As I’ve previously mentioned, becoming too absorbed in your problems prohibits you from getting rid of them. Happiness is never the result of directly chasing it, it is usually the side effect of doing something else. We offered Involution as a medium towards finding yourself. I would suggest using the tools of Self-Exploration And Self-Understanding apart from Self-Love to achieve finding what makes your soul sing.

Self-Love has many approaches to it, there’s so many ways you can learn to accept yourself to transcend the absorption with your problems. Try starting with these articles: https://lonerwolf.com/shadow-self/ , https://lonerwolf.com/authenticity/ and https://lonerwolf.com/whole/ .

Logically you are right, #9 all paths are the right ones. But depending on your level of emotional subjectivity; if they are all right, which one should they take? You have to have a deep enough understanding of yourself to understand also that it doesn’t really matter what path is taken. But being Old Souls doesn’t necessarily equate to having cultivated conscious spiritual understanding of yourself. It only shows you’ve begun listening to your inner self.

I appreciate your honest sharing of experience with these problems :).

#10 is totally off for me! Because everything is in constant change I embrace my own inner energy and I totally belong wherever I am at the time!!!!! I feel I am a chameleon of sorts and adaptation is easy for me, I actually become none of it but easily and joyfully can experience all of it! Numbers 6 and 7 do not happen to me either. I can understand why number 5 may affect some people who do not quite understand who they are and are still struggling to “fit in” with the rest of the world.
I bet most of us also are NOT religious! I mean the flying man who created everything just does not make sense, does it? Ever sense I can remember I have felt at One with my natural surroundings. I LOVE learning new things and when you study physics and its molecules, atoms, basic elements, and unknown energies, well, it sort of proves what I have always felt, that we are really all one big thing. We, as these bodies and egos, come and go but the energy that is life and our elements just keep changing like the original recycling center! We are ageless and timeless and eternal but some of us seem to understand this and often (throughout each day) seem to feel this understanding and most just refuse to even think along these lines! LOL

      Hola Mary,

That is the true key; to come to terms with not belonging anywhere because in fact we can belong everywhere when we see through the fallacy of the mind.

I agree that the more and more we cultivate self-understanding and embrace that understanding with deep and true self-love and acceptance, the easier it will become to allow our authenticity to emerge and many of these problems slowly disappear.

I don’t believe old souls are religious, I believe they experience religiousness. Religions are groups of people who have faith and worship books. Religiousness is a deeper understanding and maturity; to truly feel our interconnection with nature, the impermanence of time and the divinity of life.

It’s a great way of putting it; we are an energetic recycling center :). Not a single atom has been added into this Earth since the birth of time, we now know that all that has happened has been that they have changed shapes, vibrations and structures, but the same amount of atoms is there.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

I relate to this so much, I’ve known I was different from a very young age, explains why I felt I needed to be on my own, and this started at the age of 13, running from abuse to find a better way to live. Experienced a journey that had alot of adventure some I enjoyed some not so much, but it lead me to here and I now understand why I feel the way that I do, yet I am a free willed spirit and remain so and will continue this journey with the help of the guardians that I can trust. Keep leading me to the place I m suppose to be as it feels right and powerful.

      Hola Diane,

Feeling mature and yet without any control of your life can be quite a difficult experience for Old Souls.

It can lead to turmoil as you have shared. I’m glad to see you’ve found trust in whatever force is guiding you and have achieved a great journey so far. Who knows where you’ll end up? :)
