Understanding the underlying motivations that drive much of our behavior is an essential part of our journeys of inner exploration as lone wolves and spiritual wanderers.

Have you ever wondered why you want, feel, think, and behave the way you do?

By analyzing your unconscious mind, you can dig to the very roots of why you are the way you are.

Jungian Archetypes

It was psychologist Carl Jung who first developed a theory about how the human psyche was structured and organized, and he referred to these inner patterns as “archetypes.”

The word archetype comes from the Greek words archein, which means “original,” and typos, which means “pattern, model, or type.” Therefore, we can understand archetypes as literally original patterns.

In his theory, Jung developed the notion that our minds use “universal images” that lead to distinct psychological behaviors.

These behaviors were individually acquired and inherited from the “collective unconscious” (e.g., past life experiences).

Types of Archetypes

Jung proposed that apart from the Self, Shadow, Anima, Animus, and Persona, there were 12 other commonly found archetypes.

Recently, scholar Dr. Carol S. Pearson and psychologist Dr. Hugh Marr developed a system of self-inquiry based on these universal archetypes to help us find ourselves and transform our paths.

Pearson and Marr named their method the Pearson-Marr Archetype Indicator® (PMAI).

In this psychological archetype quiz, you’ll explore which one of the 12 types you most closely match and “live through.”

Why Take This Archetype Quiz?

This archetype quiz has been carefully created and inspired by the separate works of psychologist Carl Jung and the Pearson-Marr Archetype Indicator® (PMAI).

Finding your psychological archetype can help you to:

  • Embark on a journey of self-discovery by learning how to understand yourself and your needs.
  • Learn about your personal gifts, core fears, strengths, weaknesses, shadow self, and life goals.
  • Guide your life and help you to make aligned decisions that match your inner needs, desires, and dreams.
  • Reclaim a sense of personal power and find more individuation.

Take the Psychological Archetype Quiz!

We all possess the twelve archetypes within this test, but some of them are more predominant within us than others.

  1. I took the test twice. And I got Seeker both times. No surprise there. I’ve always known, as my pre-birth memories tell me that I’ve explored many different lives and was looking for an ideal.

This, along with the article on mystic wanderer, comes at a synchronistic time, when the movie Kung Fu Panda 4 came out.
In that movie, Po has to go from being the dragon warrior to being some sort of mystic leader.

It spoke to me the same way that a prior source suggested that I’m transitioning from the hero’s journey to the magician’s journey.
Which means I’m no longer fit to be warrior, something I’ve always seen myself as. And now I’m being forced into the mystic wander role.

I don’t get to be Luke Skywalker anymore, instead I have to be Obiwan or Yoda! How boring.

Part of me is disappointed at this reality, because I never really got to do much in the warrior phase of my life. I feel like I missed out on a lot.
And now I’m being called to be the mystic wanderer on The Magicians journey!

    I don’t know.

    • Thanks for sharing Xen. I haven’t seen the new Kung Fu panda movie but it’s on my list.

I’m not sure I see the archetypes within the journey the same way you’re describing. The Magician for example doesn’t stop being a Hero, they integrate the Hero and now are heroic in the internal realms.

Very much like Yoga both INCLUDES but also TRANSCENDS the Jedi Master role.

      I hope that helps.

  2. Hi,

I’ve just taken the test but didn’t receive a result. It just says “What did you get?” but there’s nothing there. I took the test then clicked on a card but there’s no result. Can you help?

    • Hey Alex, this is usually some sort of localized issue (something within your device/app blocking the functionality of the test.)

Usually it’s an Extension or setting, so you may want to try another device as I can see other people seem to be seeing their results fine.

      • Hi Mateo,

Many thanks for getting back to me. I’m in the UK so it may be that. I’ll try again on another device.

Thanks again and wishing you all the best 🌞

  4. I have The Seeker. Very recognizable, especially the feeling of disappointment because I am restless and have trouble committing… Always on the run, something like that… Always looking for more satisfaction, clarity, purpose…
I should learn to trust more, relax more, go with the flow… Getting older helps.
Thanks for your ever interesting articles!
    Blessings ❤️🙏🏻

    • I can relate Sandy. It’s taken me a while to figure out how to allow the Wanderer spirit to keep exploring while also setting down some anchors in my life, different root systems that keep me grounded and stop me flow flying away with my endless curiosity 😄

  5. I got Caregiver…this lines up with everything I know about myself – including my human design profile (3/5 martyr/heretic). Very interesting

    • That’s great, I find the more typologies you can map onto yourself, the better and more rounded the picture you get of yourself, as we’re multifaceted beings beyond any one single typology.
