As spiritual beings having a human experience, it is our destiny to find our purpose by reconnecting to our Souls.
Soulwork is about learning how to listen to the voice of our innermost selves again. All true guidance and wisdom can be found in the hidden chamber within our hearts.
Before we can listen to our Souls, we need to remove the obstacles in our paths. These obstacles often include toxic beliefs, ideas, dogmas, repressed feelings, suppressed desires, and wounds we’ve carried around since childhood. These blockages keep us shut in patterns of fear, avoidance, addiction, and depression.
Soulwork is the practice of removing these obstacles so that the light of our Higher Selves can illuminate our lives and guide our decisions. Your Soul is your Higher Self, and it is your ultimate source of truth, peace, love, and freedom.
By listening to and learning how to embody our Souls, we mature on a soulful level. When we soulfully mature, we can rediscover the happiness, wholeness, joy and peace that has always been here in the present moment.
But how do you start?
This page will provide you with the top six ways to start your Soulwork.
The best thing is that you can start your Soulwork any place, any time, and on whatever path you feel intuitively drawn to.
However, for practical reasons, we have ordered the list below from beginner to advanced levels:
1. Self-Discovery
Before you understand the nature of your soul, you must understand your personality. Your personality, or self-image, is who you think you are, or who you have been taught to be. Elements of your personality that you can explore include your sexual preferences, your personality type, your gifts, your strengths, weaknesses, values, and so forth. See our free tests for a fun and simple way to learn more about yourself!
2. Core Wounds and Core Beliefs
Throughout life, we all develop core wounds and core beliefs. Core beliefs are the root beliefs we have about ourselves that guide our decisions, thoughts, and behavior. Often core beliefs are of a negative and destructive nature, and this is why they are so important to discover.
Core wounds, on the other hand, are the deepest and most severe cuts within our psyche. Our core wounds can be inherited from our parents, our society, or various traumas in our lives.
3. Self-Love and Authenticity
Before you can love others, you must love yourself. Self-love is about learning to unconditionally accept your authentic self. This means learning how to completely love all of your insecurities, flaws, “ugly” bits and perceived failures.
4. Shadow Work
Shadow Work is basically self-love in disguise, and it is an “advanced” type of Soulwork. This is because shadow work involves a significant amount of maturity and courage to unconditionally accept the “dark” parts of yourself.
Shadow Work involves identifying and understanding your Shadow Self. Your Shadow Self is the repressed or condemned part of you that harbors embarrassing secrets, hidden gifts, “shameful” tendencies and other disowned traits of your psyche.
5. Soul Communication
In order to understand the nature of your soul, we must learn how to “communicate” with it. This can be done by learning how to lucid dream, accessing non-ordinary states of awareness, ceremony, ritual, sacred sex, vision quests, prayer and many other practices which we have written about on this website.
6. Self-Inquiry
Self-inquiry is the process of questioning and examining your thoughts. In order to question your thoughts, it is important to develop a certain level of self-awareness. This can be done through practices such as mindfulness and meditation.
Self-inquiry shows that it is never the person or situation that is to blame, it is our own thinking. As all emotions originate from thoughts, self-inquiry helps us to distinguish truth from reality. This helps us to find peace and freedom from suffering.
You Can Begin Now …
There is no need to delay your healing. You can begin Soulwork right now. We recommend starting with the question, “Who am I?” and branching off from there. You might also like to bookmark this page and come back to it whenever you need to.
