The spiritual awakening journey is about returning to the center of yourself. It is a homecoming to your Soul or True Nature.
However, the spiritual awakening path is not linear. We don’t move from point A to point B in a single straight line. Instead, we often move in spirals and concentric circles.
Contrary to its popular depiction, spiritual awakening isn’t like hiking up an ascending mountain โ instead, it’s comparable to a journey taken through a series of rippling valleys.ย
These valleys contain benevolent guides and treasures but also traps, monsters, and other perils.
We can go from feeling blissfully connected to devastated in the space of a few steps.
But regardless of what you’re feeling, be assured that so long as you’re on this path, you are always learning. You’re always growing.
And you are moving ever closer to the center of the mandala: your Eternal, Unchanging Self.
Spiritual Awakening Test

The free spiritual awakening test below makes this knowledge experiential so that you can discover where you are right now. Doing so will help you to gain your bearings, orient yourself, and know what to do next.
Be aware, however, that there are no “better” or “worse” stages. This isn’t a competition. Furthermore, it’s common to move backward and forward on the path.
Ultimately, I’ve tried my best to define the indefinable. So be aware of the limitations of this test while also seeing its value.

I got the Mystic, & I couldn’t believe, how it was so right! I do feel, bliss, at times peaceful, I also feel, thankful, I will be starting a new job tomorrow, so a bit nervous, & excited at the same time. I do seem to want to stay on the good feeling wave. I am wanting to do inner work, & explore my higher consciousness, but, not sure what you mean by ego death.

“Facing Darkness”. It’s difficult to see where this sits on the cycle chart below the test results because of the pop ups of animals that don’t appear to have a cross anywhere to make them disappear so I can read properly! I’d have loved to have read a lot more of the test and of the edit before the questions but the images aren’t formulated correctly and sit above the text making it near impossible to read anything.
I am using a PC, everything is up to date and pop ups have to be allowed for the questions to show. The images have nothing to do with the questions or the subject. It would be great if someone could fix this ready for the next time it is linked to through an email ;)

Though I feel like I am finding ways to let go of past traumas, heal the present ones, and find the way, truth, life, light, and love to continue even at this age into complete loving kindness for all whom I make contact with before going home to the inner life.๏ปฟ๐๏ปฟ

This is sooo eerily true!
Lately, I question EVERYTHING.
Research EVERYTHING.
I LOVE learning nowadays.
That’s awesome Girl of Brody. Eternal curiosity is what keep us from getting stuck very easily.
I got the shifting perspective stage.
The past week has been very hard to me, almost a dark night of the soul. I say almost because i’ve been worse psychologically, although I can’t say how things will evolve for me in the next days.They could get worse.
I feel i got more than i bargained for. I started looking up non duality, which I was already aware of to some extent, intellectually, but now I began to truly understand what it means.The fact that we are all one fundamental Self, the fact that concepts such as right and wrong, good or bad etc are illusions. Honestly, this is far from reassuring to me. I lost my conceptual map to navigate reality. I crave to go back to my ignorance, to live being only partially aware, so i can still fit in my world, so I can stay connected to my family, colleagues and friends. I don’t want to lose the relationships i have.
If everything is an illusion created by the Self, then why live this life at all, once i can see past the illusion? What purpose is there for me being here at this stage of understanding? Why bother with this life anymore?
Up until now I’ve known my role in life, based on my ego. I’ve always wanted a family, a job, a hobby, a normal existence. At the same time the search for deeper things was a big adventure for me, it made this world exciting, mysterious…but now that i got a look at the reality of things, is my journey over? What is there to make it exciting from here onwards? Normally it’s the journey, not the goal, that makes in worthwile. So I feel stuck. Why bother doing anything at all?
I also don’t know how to relate to others since they’re all me and I’m them. How am i to behave? is there any sense in interacing with the other parts of myself? Is it possible to love others knowing they’re me?
Another thing. I’m an artist, my biggest passion was to create stories and I was learning how to draw in order to make them a reality on paper. This filled a lot of my time and gave me a sense of accomplishment. The stories were a way i could express myself to myself, and others. I could spend hours alone, thinking up stories and imagining them. Now for some reason I feel I lost this creative spark, and I can feel no enthusiasm at all…why is that?
I’m sorry if i wrote such a long comment, but I feel i really need some guidance. I read all your articles on the topic of awakening, dark night of the soul, soul loss, soul searching, but I’m still not at peace. I crave to regain purpose in this world now that I know better how it works…

I’m sorry you’re having a hard time recently. From what you describe, you seem to be struggling with the ‘absolutist’ pitfall which many nonduality/advaita seekers fall into.

You’re neglecting the reality of our subjective experience by solely focusing on the Absolute which creates bypassing issues. To transcend our ego’s it’s important we have a well developed healthy boundaried ego to begin with.

Your post brought a smile to my face as so much resonated with me in what now seems the distant past. Life will unfold and provide you with your answers in ways that will surprise you, so you neednโt be afraid, rush or force anything, just be mindful of the signs and as the saying goes โ when the student is ready the teacher will appearโ you are not alone! You will learn and grow as and when you need to, so you donโt need to fret, just take it a moment at a time, all is well now and there is no need to let go of all you have. The letting go is of some of the perceptions you once had that do not serve you well, and they will be edged out by life as you live it the best you can each day. It would be best to express the invisible arm of creativity that creeps up on Artistic people from time to time and demands they release their inner self of the subconscious creative archetypes found there by drawing painting writing or just talking out what they are experiencing.
