Are You a Spiritual Outsider? (From Evolution to INvolution)

by Mateo Sol ยท Updated: Jul 29, 2023 ยท 32 Comments

Image of a person holding up a leaf to the sunlight symbolic of spiritual evolution

Humanity is at a crossroads โ€“ weโ€™ve reached a critical point in our evolution.

We have made huge, unprecedented strides economically, technologically and scientifically. As a result, many of us are experiencing enormous material benefits and freedoms more than ever before. But there is a dark side. These advancements have also given birth to a range of disturbing social, political, ecological and economic problems that have resulted in large-scale Soul Loss.

When we are cut off from the Soul, we are cut off from each other and the world. It is then that we see people becoming increasingly anxious, depressed and isolated from each other. It is then that we see humanity at large lacking the meaning and purpose of being connected to something beyond the material self.

Spiritual Wanderer Course:

โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ "I started the Spiritual Wanderers Course a short while ago and for the first time in twelve years I have started to experience love, acceptance and compassion for myself and within myself. Thank you so much." โ€“ Vivienne S.

The consequence of falling into a state of cold rationalism and mechanistic reductionism is that, as a species, we see the world and each other as objects to be used and discarded. Being severed from the Soul, the human being becomes deranged. Illnesses of every kind begin to emerge, starting within the body as chronic sicknesses and eating disorders โ€“ ending with mental illnesses, existential crises, paranoia, hatred, suicide, murder, and the psychotic abuse of our most innocent members of society.

Conscious Awakening

Most of us can sense that behind the facade of normality, something is terribly wrong. The worldโ€™s population is increasing rapidly, our ecological systems are suffering tremendously, spiritual resources are becoming scarce, food is being polluted and genetically modified, the rich continue to get richer, and the poor, poorer, and our financial systems are as unstable as ever.

Intuitively, many of us know that something in our lives and the world around us desperately needs to change. We are beginning to realize that we need to adjust our way of thinking, perceiving, being and behaving in the world in order to direct our attention away from the externally focused world to the boundlessly internal one.

We need to learn how to think differently and live differently.

I’ve often searched for a word, a direction, an experience that encapsulates this need to break away from the sickly structures and illusions of society.ย  Our world is so caught up in progressing externally – in the evolution of our economies, in the advancement of our technologies, and as always, in the improvement of our material lives.ย  But we have forgotten to direct effort to our internal lives, and our neglect shows itself in the constant chaos and suffering we create for ourselves and the surrounding world.ย  This is why a big part of my personal message involves the path of inner work – the innerย explorationย and healing of our souls – a path that helps us rediscover ourselves.

Whether through inner work, or through many of the other paths that exist in our world, we are all searching for a spiritual awakening, for something that takes us beyond the mundane and ordinary, for something that helps us grow individually, and something that reconnects us with our higher selves and makes us feel whole, providing us with a sense of belonging and purpose.ย  We’ve turned to religion, politics and science to provide us with the solutions to these problems, but all of these we have tried and failed miserably.

External Answers to Internal Questions

All throughout history we have sought to answer our internal questions with external answers.ย  In fact, most of us still repeat this misguided search, coming up flat, dead and more frustrated and confused than before.

Religion, although with noble intentions, has caused more harm than good by creating fanatical, self-denying beliefs and ideologies that are open to interpretation.ย  Many of us are realizing this now, and organized religion is crumbling apart quickly.

Science as an answer has merely succeeded in describing HOW the world around us works, explaining what we see and feel (for example, music is a vibration within a gaseous medium), but it can never really explain WHY anything happens.ย  From the Big Bang Theory to Quantum Mechanics, Science will describe the process of how the universe comes to be without answering our thirst for a deeper meaning that we crave for existence.

Politics is just another human construction we have dabbled in for answers.ย  Constructs such as Communism, for instance, have tried to address the issues we face by misguidedly declaring that the system can change the individual without realizing that the system only exists as an illusion.ย  Unless the individual flaws of greed, power thirst, fear, and so forth are addressed first, these flaws will ruin the entire collective system.

Although many of us are aware of these issues, we individually and collectively continue to carry on our old habits of focusing on the external world for answers and furthering our self-centeredness, materialism and disconnection from ourselves and the world around us.ย  This all adds up to an eever-increasingsense of helplessness and insignificance while we watch our leaders fail to acknowledge these problems, or else react in highly dangerous and misguided self-preserving ways.

A New Way of Living

While our current personal and global situations may be disheartening, it’s a natural result of depriving ourselves from experiencing a wider reality, of failing to expand our consciousness beyond a purely material and individualistic view of ourselves and the universe.

Our vision for LonerWolf has always been to provide support, encouragement, a sense of belonging and a pathway to self-understanding, which our increasingly superficial societies have failed to address and help us with.ย  We need to transcend the values of a society that perceives the world in a fragmented and materialistic way, and strive towards creating a world that is sustainable, collectively beneficial and supports the individual spiritual thirst for a more whole, fulfilling life.

This spiritual thirst is what gives birth to the lone wolves of life, the fringe dwellers of our planet, the social outsiders of our world, and the Old in Soul.

To live wisely, love wholeheartedly, and mature fully as individuals and collectively as a species, we must develop our inner world just as much as our outer one.ย  We must learn how to explore the wider realms of our consciousness, appreciating that all life is an interconnected web, an energetic essence that is composed of spirit, or living energy.

One of the ways we know how to do this is to change our way of thinking, being and behaving by cultivating Soulful Energy, following the paths and techniques of Involution that lead us towards a more soul-aware, caring and humane way of existing.

It is time to understand that we are spiritual beings that need soulful sustenance, not soulless automatons who exist solely to indulge our minds and bodies.

I only just discovered your website and I immediately joined in. It is very comforting to read something that speaks right from your soul and that’s what happened here. So thank you!
I am a young “adult” (meaning I’m still a child that is forced to live alone for the first time) and the life I’m living, the people I see everyday and the fact that we all agreed to this – it’s been driving me insane. Dreaming, enjoying, growing, living the moment and self-fullfillment are things I have recently lost focus of, and I feel like I wasn’t the only one. I still don’t know what’s going on, nevertheless has this article brought a lot of clarity into my mind. Again; thank you.
Everyone out there: have a nice day! So will I.

Thank you Rebecca for your kind words.

It’s easy to lose focus on self-fulfillment and being present in such a drama filled, stimulation bombarded world. It’s a muscle we must workout, even reading a book you’ll notice your mind wandering elsewhere if you don’t teach it to be absorbed and present.

The important thing to remember is we are not alone in our struggles, and we don’t need to be perfect at practicing this skill from the beginning. We just need to remind ourselves whenever we can of what is really valuable and priceless in this life; our inner peace and bliss.

I say yes. Every article I read here is immensely valuable. I have just found lonerwolf (1 week) and I have never come across a community with thoughts, beliefs and values that resonate with me so deeply. I have been lost for a long time, and cannot thank you enough for sharing this website and content.
I honestly believe that you may have saved me. Involution is not something that I had heard of until now, and it literally feels like my mind was attempting to develop such an idea on its own.
The discovery of Lonerwolf marks a turning point in my life and I look forward to the journey from here on out.

      Hola John,

It’s wonderful to hear that our work has affected you in some a deep way. When Luna and I first thought about LonerWolf we had exactly that in mind; to write for people who had experienced what we had, who due to different values, beliefs, behavior and unusual thoughts they felt isolated and disconnected from those around them.

Slowly, like minded people have gathered here and shaped the website and our work. Involution is something I created solely for my own journey and to hear and see everyday how many people benefit from it and the changes it brings to their life is a blessing.

Thank you John for allowing us into your journey and being a part of ours.

Dear Mateo, I enjoy your articles very much as you often provide some insight based on your own experiences and education that I haven’t thought of. The topics and conclusions that you are stating in this article are all things that I came to conclusion on a few years back. I had lost so much, that there wasn’t anything to lose. So I finally came into my own mind without the fears of losing and worrying what others thought or if I would be punished in some way. I grew spiritually because God was my companion. I’m not talking about religion. I’m talking about a relationship with God and creation – a being that I’m connected to and understands the world and “Involution” perfectly.

Anyway, my point of my comment here is that recently I’ve been digging deeper. I’m really questioning if I live according to my beliefs or if I am being a bit hypocritical. I believe our world is connected to God’s spirit, so I am concerned about environmental issues. However, I’m not a homesteader. Indeed I live very simply, but I have the necessities like toilet paper, clothing, using the local water sanitizing system, heat, gas, a vehicle that uses gas. Lord knows that I would not want to go back to the days when women had to use wool for sanitary purposes. I send mail, I shop online, I receive medical care. There are many justifiable needs for the use of aircraft. All these things require petroleum and factories and transportation, My point is that when the Industrial Revolution occurred, it changed the very basics of our lives. With all the single parent families in our world, would it be very difficult for people to homestead and provide everything for themselves. Most people can’t even afford a plot of land to do such a thing.

I also did a lot of deep thinking and research about what is “right” and what is “wrong”. I realized that for many social issues, people will have completely different ideas on what is right and wrong, and there often isn’t a right answer. It just depends on who is going to be hurt or saved.

This doesn’t mean that my beliefs or my own involution process has changed. It just means that I’m old enough to see many sides, and I’m able to accept my own beliefs as not something that better anyone’s else, but simply because I was born to this world and I matter. I have to believe in the best outcome, try to be authentic and love my neighbor by action. I think that is all any of us can do.

      Hola Deb,

These conclusions are what awoke that immense thirst at a young age to seek something deeper and more profound. I am thankful to have gone through such a critical stage no matter how difficult it was now that I contemplate it on hindsight.

I can understand your concerns toward environmental issues and whether or not you are remaining authentic to your views of the world. Personally in my own Involution process I have suffered immensely from observing poverty and destruction of our habitat but I’ve come to the understanding that I can never control others actions. I can simply try to contribute to their own development so they come to the conclusions themselves.

Mother nature can never be destroyed, she has no concept of time so even if we destroyed the whole world she would still grow back to be beautiful and alive. But us…we depend on her to survive, if we destroy her we sink with the ship. If we are incapable of realizing this then perhaps that’s the fate we deserve.

I admire your determination to leave as little a print on our land and that is all we can really do, try to destroy as little as possible with our existence. As more people embrace their own paths of involution more and more people will start to try finding ways to transport products in a sustainable way, there will be a richer variety of organic products because we will be much more in tune with nature, with God, and how much we are a part of God as God is of us.

In the meantime, spreading awareness and destroying as little as possible is all we can do. How can one ask for more?

      Warmly,

      Sol

Personally, I see that one way we can gain the inner freedom that you describe is to look for and enjoy more of the beauty and wonder in this world. This includes the beauty we can find in ourselves. I’ve found that reading poetry, viewing art, and short periods of meditation have helped me with this endeavor. But that is just my opinion.

      Hola Ezekiel,

That is an excellent idea to learn to enjoy our capacity to admire beauty and wonder. From my own experience I’ve found that the only problem with this is that in order to listen to this silent poet within us all some people must overcome many inner barriers; mental chattering, psychological issues (anxiety, depression), cultural conditioning like ‘career productivity” goals (stopping and smelling the roses is a waste of time for someone who associates time = money).

Our very natures are quite sensitive and divine to all these wondrous and beautiful things but we need to get rid of all the ‘white noise’ that has been taught to us which hides this inner nature.

Thank you for sharing your great insight :),

      Warmly,

Depression is everywhere. My father is a doctor and also do acupunture. Most of people that go there have some emotional problem.

Im gonna try to give my thoughts there about how i perceive the world and things around me.

I think we live in a world that people compare with each other all the time, instead of looking inside of themselves to find the answers. We live in a external world we alot of stimulus and visual stuff. People compare each other with appearence, social status, money, job, cloths, cars. Only material and foolish stuff.

School, high school, university, job, marriage, its all part of the system, and people follow it without questioning. We need to find the answers inside of ourselfs, create our own inner world based on what?? The Truth. How can we discover what is real and what is not?? Having experiences. All the time people base their opinions on other people thoughts, or because the media say something, the tv say something, etc, etc. But now i see a light in the end of the tunnel, because we are evolving fast then we were years ago. The internet was a big advanced thing on humanity, was a MARK, something that gonna change our lives and our future forever. You know why??? Because we are all connected. We can have many experiences in a short time, meet lots, lots of people, share lots lots of knowledge. EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED. Imagine a ALIEN SPACE SHIP, with a big technological screen that you put a question there, and the information APPEARS. BOOMMM, thats close that we have now. We have the knowlegde, so everything we need or wanna do, we can be. Im a body builder, and i trained my body to GAIN more confidence, and be able to reach more people, and show who i really was, so people could respected me. I searched information about GYM, training, nutrition on the internet and started working out and having results. The information is FREE to everyone, we just need to find what is TRUE and what is a LIE. Slowly we gonna evolve and be able to share only what is real, because LYING is a waste of time, dont make anything better, with the connection the we are creating, we can really CHANGE THE WORLD. Before people tend to be like in a cagde, with fear from everything, they lived and share experiences with people around them, school mates, etc. Now we are evolving into a world of experiences and freedom, but its gonna take a little time.

Even relation ships, look how many dating web sites its up there, tinder, etc. Before we were limited and couldnt experience things like now. People would settle for a partner, with fear of never finding someone, settle with a partnet that was not an ideal partner.

So thats my 2 cents. I believe we are entering in a new way of living, based on experiences ! People gonna recognize slowly thats material things are not so important, and we gonna be ready to live in a world of full experiences. Patterns, and fears and going down. We just need time to see things getting better. In 10-20 years things gonna be very different from they are now. We are entering in a stage of evolution, really quickly.

We need to follow our OWN path and discover what IS REAL and what its NOT, for our inner self. We need to evolve on the inside, and every experience that we have, tell us something about US, something about the world, something about other people. BY THE example we can change the PEOPLE around us, changing the people around US, they can change another people, and things gonna continue. We are powerful beyond measure, we ALL are. But we lived trapped in a caged for many years following stricts rules, things based on power, fear and control. Now we are awakening, and things gonna change. I believe in miracles, and with the power of our mind, together, we can change the world.

      Hola Marcos,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and point of view in this matter.

The nature of human beings who’ve been taught to find their self-worth from the external world is always going to be to compare ourselves with other people. Unless we teach people about Self-Love, about finding their value from within instead of externally (leading to power wars and starvation of greed), it will continue to happen.

It is true, most people are absorbed in the habitual ritualistic ideologies in society and never stop to rebel and question what they are dedicating their lives to act out this script that has been given to them. To use “Truth” as our guide however can be tricky as our ‘experiences’ are highly variable depending on our beliefs and conditioning (I could for example say that trying to gain self-confidence from others respect by body building is still using our ego instead of our Self-Love). So before we can use our experiences as guides from Truth, we must first learn to overcome and transcend all the old habits and belief systems that exist within us. Inner Freedom is the first step, everything else will follow.

I agree with you that the Internet is an incredible tool that has the potential to help us free ourselves from societies cultural restraints. It connects us to different people around the world and helps us see that we aren’t that different; before you thought of someone from Morocco and you were afraid how different they might be from us…now we know that all of us like the same things and striving from the same things (love, happiness, health). It will also drastically open the eyes of many cultures who have lived under dictatorships of beliefs and ideologies and now can read about others opinions and judge for themselves if it makes sense how they live or not.

This knowledge tool of technology isn’t enough however; unless we have the soulful maturity to apply this knowledge to our lives it will simply become an over evolved technological future with the same problems of the past. Greed, Power, Stimulation, Egotism, Fear cannot be overcome by the internet or by any amount of knowledge unless we are willing to go inside of us and actively change ourselves. I look around me and I see more and more people absorbed in their phones everyday, completely oblivious to the beauty of the present moment around them because there’s more ways to entertain their stimuli starved minds in the internet.

The evolutionary phase we are going through now will be interesting to witness in our lifetime. Technology has added a wild car into the equation and can has drastic consequences in what happens from now on. :)

Hi don i always enjoy readings your posts, cuz its always nice to read different opinions, different perspectives, so we can learn something with each other.

I believe if everybody understand that each person has a different path, different purpose here, we can follow our own directions instead worrying, comparying our lifes with other people. I believe a lot of people suffer bcuz of this, jealousy… instead of living their lives, they criticize other people, compare, make judgments.

When i talk about bodybuilding, let me explain to you, i always was a sensitive person, and weak physically, so in school i was victim of bullies, they pick on me, make stupid comments, sometimes use strenght to intimidate me, being bad to me, so i couldnt do anything. Even though i just want to share love with everyone, i had a very painful experience when i was young. I was depressed, lost, terrible, terrible. So to me gaining strenght, confidence, it was a DEFENSE mechanism to fight the harsh world that we live in. I developed a lot of defense mechanism there, and learned to love myself, not worrying what other people would say about me. Thats the way i found to overcome difficulties in my life, maybe because my traumatic childhood, i tried to do something to change it, gaining respect of other people, i dont know. I feel more confident to protect me, and protect other people that i like around me. Even if we learn self love, Its painfull if you are a victim of bullies everyday, when nobody understand the way you are, its very painfull experience, especially at a very young age.

Some people say that the guys that shot students on columbine massacre were Indigos, i cant say that for sure, but i believe its possible.

Yes technology have 2 sides, the good and the bad. Things gonna change in a new perspective, i believe at least we can try to create our world based on our thoughts, to change something for better.

          Hola Marcos,

The world is composed from different perceptions, often others perceptions can break us free from our limited frames so I thank you for being one of our readers who enjoys sharing theirs.

It’s a shame so many peoples paths go on ignored because they’ve never been taught to break free from the cultural imposed ideals, hopefully little by little with this great awareness movement we will change that :).

I understand what you mean and can see where you are coming from. My main concern when creating awareness for the Self-Love path is that we learn to overcome our individual sense of identity. It is only when we begin to gain our self worth from our personal pride which we can only do by reconnecting to our most spiritual roots; that of our collective awareness or consciousness which we all share. The only way competitiveness, wars, jealousy and all this can stop is if we overcome our individual identities and begin to reconnect with our spiritual collective essence.

Defense mechanisms are your individual sense of identities way of protecting his worth, of reaffirming you are worth something, you are strong, you can protect yourself, you are powerful and have confidence now. There’s nothing wrong with body building, but it is the reason we choose to do something which makes all the difference in how we are cultivating our spiritual nature or reinforcing the cultural conditioning. Men who are greedy and accumulate money might be doing so because when they were younger they were immensely poor and that is their defense mechanism.

Indigo’s do have immense sensitive souls but unless they learn to become the master of their emotions, to create a gap between them and their indigo nature so that their gift doesn’t control them and force them to react, it’s a double edge sword and as you point out can go good or bad.

          Warmly,

          Sol

      Hola Lupe,

There’s an old Sufi parable which narrates the up’s and down’s of a powerful Kings life called “This Too Shall Pass”. It’s a great lesson on the ephemeral nature of our problems and our joys. The one eternal, consistent and unchanging state is the awareness of ourselves and the world around us.

To cultivate this awareness and expand it to its fullest potential is all that is worth doing, granted of course you are provided for in your basic needs off food, shelter and health.

You will stray many times, or as the original meaning intended, “Sin”, but to make this mistakes and get back on the path is all that matters :).

thank-you for your intuitive thoughts and wisdom gave me so much hope and an inspiration for further evolution in spirit and dimensional level. i resonate in green & sky blue aura color. I am still dealing with my throat chakra and somehow got improved in health, teeth gums and eye sight. Every effect have its very cause behind. When the male-female or active-passive side of spirit get balanced, all type of illness on physicality will be healed soon. I forgot a website but it written in a very crystal way. For example a person he/she got illness or pain on right leg(most active or dominating leg) or male side, it mean he/she is not confident or doubt of its female side or creative side. I am somewhat fortunate of my birth in this turning point of life positively and everybody else…

      Hola Anonymous,

It’s my pleasure to hear my own experiences and observations are felt by others as well so deeply.

Chakra’s are a wonderful tool to measure and work through energy blockages that exist within our body but it is always important to keep present that our body and mind are a interconnected whole organism that isn’t divided into different parts.

I’ve always been a supporter of while we apply chakra healing to our bodies which also helps our minds, we should incorporate psychological aspects and exploration of our psyche. The Western mind is much more imbalanced psychologically due to our individualistic perception of the world as opposed to the Hindu culture and others which solely benefit from chakra work alone.

I look forward to hearing the results with your throat chakra work :)

Thank you for writing this, Mateo. Your words and wisdom are inspiring and eye-opening. I’ve only been visiting this website for a short while, but I have learnt so much.

This is what we need more of. More of us need to read these wise words.

I think this is the best article you written. You have written something that really arguments and have you reflect on the world.I have never comment on any of the articles before because I really never hadin something passionate about it.I am a person who strive for a permaculture way and living in coexistence with the word. We humans have forgotten that we are just a little part of the big web,we call Earth.Everything we do effects the rest of the world. Why strive for economic welfare? When the kvalitรฉ of life and earth makes the world to a horrible place to live. Both mentally and environmentally. I live in a country where the welfare is one of the best and most successful.Sweden have come a long way,but the politcis have taken a wrong turn. There’s no money for elderly care and education but the government has lowed the taxes and are paying 40% for people’s extra lounge rooms and make the materialism bigger. What you say are important and politcans should take a lesson and encourage something else then economic success and and support consumption and materialism.PS.I’m 16.

      Hola Moa,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful words, I’m constantly reassured that we are heading in the right direction when readers such as yourself at such a young age can already see through all the economical nonsense that our societies have created.

In the core of every human being there is an immense void and needof meaning that needs to be filling. Our society realized the power that is latent within this individual sense of self, our ego, and has abused as much as it has could throughout the 20th and 21st centuries especially by emphasizing through advertising how ‘unique’ and ‘special’ we can be by using material items to manifest our individuality.

We’ve developed the external world enough at the cost of ignoring our internal worlds completely. Thanks to technology we now have weapons of mass destruction that could vanish any country within seconds but we don’t have the necessary soulful maturity to use the technology wisely (North Korea as an example).

Any effort we do to promote awareness is the only true help we can provide in ‘changing’ the world. I’m happy to hear this article resonated so deeply with you :)
