Art Meditation: 18 Free Coloring Pages For Adults

Art helps us to unblock, de-stress, and express ourselves to the fullest potential.

In fact, I believe itโ€™s safe to say that art is an expression of the soul.

There are very few crafts in the world that are as universally appealing as coloring.

โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ "I started the Spiritual Wanderers Course a short while ago and for the first time in twelve years I have started to experience love, acceptance and compassion for myself and within myself. Thank you so much." โ€“ Vivienne S.

As children, we all scribbled through various coloring books (and if you were like me, the walls and floor too โ€ฆ mwahaha).

If you have a child you’ve probably enjoyed watching them color in hollowed images of various animals and Disney characters. But what about us adults?

According to the Amazon โ€œbestseller list” right now, adult coloring books are becoming more and more popular as people discover โ€“ or rediscover โ€“ the amazing benefits of sitting down with a pencil or marker.

In fact, coloring books are even reported to be the best alternative to traditional forms of meditation as they allow the mind to relax, enter into a state of โ€œflowโ€ and slow down the body so that it can unwind.

While coloring may not technically be art therapy (according to this psychologist and art therapist), it is a simple, fun, and beneficial way to harmonize the mind and body.

I was given a โ€œCreative Therapy Coloring Bookโ€ at the beginning of the year as a gift but decided to abandon it in the dusty depths of my book dungeon.

When I received it, I thought “This is kind of cool … but weird,” and so I passed up the opportunity.

Shadow & Light Membership:

โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ "Straight from the very first weekly email, this has been mind-blowingly powerful, the synchronicity and the on-vibe contents resonate uncannily with my soulโ€™s current challenges." โ€“ Marie

But the other week I stumbled across the book again and thought I would try it out for a change. A few hours later I was enthusiastically hopping on the internet researching far and wide … and what did I find? Other people love this whimsical form of self-expression as well!

So why is coloring so great?

Coloring allows you to not only complete a beautiful mini-masterpiece, but it also creates a space of silence in your mind.

I found that just 10 minutes of solid coloring helped my inner chatter to quiet and eventually cease altogether.

Not only that, but coloring actually helped me to become acutely aware of what was going on inside of my mind.

That is partly why I was so eager to create this article because almost ANYONE can benefit from this, and it is a wonderful form of meditation.

After 20 minutes I felt grounded and centered with all the stresses of the day faded away.

Below you will find a beautiful selection of free coloring pages for adults.

Feel free to download any, or as many, as you like.

You may even find that after coloring in a few of these pages you are inspired to create your own unique designs which will be even more beneficial for you.

Thank you for sharing! I have been searching for site that offers free coloring pages and i found yours! Really like the pages and illustrations. Coloring is really an excellent way to relax. A wonderful gift to give to my friends and family. By the way i have just recently got my new adult coloring book from Amazon and it’s great! This coloring book is one of the best I have ever purchased. It is full of beautiful images of mandalas, birds, butterflies, flowers, plants, and fairies. And the quality is superb! You and your followers might want to have one of this too!

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this!!!!

This is exactly what I’ve needed to get out of my mind and back into the creativity I’ve actually blocked myself from expressing. I used to draw & paint all the time, and had much better connection with intuition, much more peace, and things flowed so much better in my life, Yet after some major traumas/injuries, I’ve found myself having shut down that part of me, partially from fear that i wouldn’t be able to do it again. Though what a perfect way to get back into that space of stillness, creativity, and joy.

I am so grateful for being led to your site today via a friend sharing your Warrior Goddess post on facebook. Thank you so much for sharing! From what I’ve read so far on your site, I connect with you so much.

    Infinite Gratitude & Blessings!

Thank you for posting this. Colouring in sounds like a really nice way to relax. I am going to have to go find my coloured pencil set and go print off a few of these.

I think the last time I did something like this was back in my early high school days. Wasn’t really any feeling of childishness that pushed me away from it, more a case of the seriously negative experiences i had in both primary and high school, really discouraged any sort of creativity. (I almost completely stopped drawing too around the same time). I’m now 29 years old, and only recently have I started healing all the damage the school system did to me.

Please do Dan. I was amazed at what it did for me. A part of me was skeptical at first thinking, “yeah, this sounds a bit juvenile” but I was blown away. When you get around to it, I’d love to see what you do. :)

Drawing and painting are one of my main battles that I proposed to win.
As a child I liked to draw and paint a lot, but somewhere in time I stopped. One come to
accept this like a thing of childhood only, but that are nonsenses.
If we give in in the things we love, in another part of our lives we accept things that do not make us any good.

Sometimes it’s hard for me to gather the subtle energy or inspiration to draw, and I ask for help to my little brother. He easily starts drawing and painting several
pictures, and I sometimes can join with him and start drawing too.
The thing is that he become calmer and loses the need to play with video games for all day, and I become more connected and grounded. That’s why a lot of times I use it as a technique for preparation to perform other things that require a quieter state of mind.

I’ve noticed that — we tend to get blocked very easily as adults because we’re taught what is appropriate and inappropriate for us to do (and art is apparently a juvenile thing). That’s why I love that so many people are getting into this again and ignoring what society has told us for so long.

I also like your idea about using drawing as a platform for other activities that require a quiet state of mind. This would be perfect to do before bed! Thanks for the thoughts Mati. :)

I want to see grown up sized playgrounds with really long swings for maximum loft, and see saws that get you 6 feet off the ground, and slides that make me scream all the way down.
