The Enneagram is a fascinating model of the human psyche. Everyone should take the test at least once in their lifetime!
Used in therapy, business, and self-development circles, the Enneagram is a powerful tool that can increase your self-awareness, empower you with self-understanding, and increase your self-love.
The Enneagram is also a highly psycho-spiritual model (meaning that it caters to human psychology and spirituality) that can support you on your spiritual journey.

How Does the Enneagram Work?
The word ‘enneagram’ is composed of the two Greek words ennéa (meaning nine) and grámma (meaning something written). And that is the crux of the enneagram: it reveals the nature of the human personality by dividing it into nine different archetypes.
The interesting thing about the Enneagram is that it possesses a number of different facets that help us to identify:
(1) what we desire more than anything else,(2) what we value the most, (3) what tempts us the most, (4) what causes us the most fear, (5) what our biggest fault is, (6) what our greatest virtue is.
Our enneagram test (bottom of page) will help you to identify these different facets and what you need to pay attention to.
The 9 Enneagram Types
The nine Enneagram types include:
- Type 1 – The Reformer
- Type 2 – The Giver
- Type 3 – The Performer
- Type 4 – The Individualist
- Type 5 – The Observer
- Type 6 – The Loyalist
- Type 7 – The Idealist
- Type 8 – The Challenger
- Type 9 – The Peacemaker
It is common to find a little bit of yourself in all nine Enneagram types. However, one or two of them should stand out for you as revealed by this enneagram test. These are your dominant personality types.
How Understanding the Enneagram Could Transform Your Life
The Enneagram Typology was first conceptualized by the mystic Gurdjieff and developed further by Oscar Ichazo and psychiatrist Claudio Naranjo.
There are several reasons why understanding your Enneagram type is so helpful:
- It helps you to become more objectively aware of your personality “blind spots”
- It assists you in developing more self-love by helping you to understand yourself more
- It encourages you to consciously work on parts of your personality that inhibit your ability to live a harmonious life
- It allows you to develop more awareness of your “higher self” (Soul) by deconstructing your personality
Keep in mind that the Enneagram is more of a system of transformation than a means of labeling and identification. Perhaps the most amazing thing about the Enneagram is that it encourages the development and liberation of the Soul underneath.
Enneagram and Spiritual Awakening
The power of the enneagram lies in its ability to lead us to higher awareness. By helping us to understand the root of our fixations and various neurosis, we learn about our ego structure and where it broke off from Divine consciousness (called the ‘Holy Idea’). We also learn what quality we need to develop in order to deepen our spiritual awakening journey.
In his Enneagram book Facets of Unity, A. H. Almaas writes,
The … view of the Enneagram is that each ennea-type fixation is the expression of a limited mental perspective on reality, and that each of the nine egoic perspectives is the direct result of the loss or absence of the enlightened perception of one of the Holy Ideas … Working with the Enneagram as part of a larger spiritual work, however, leads to a much deeper realization of truth and thus, a freedom from personality patterns.

Now that you have the important background information, it’s time to get started!
Find out what your Enneagram type is in our free enneagram test below. (Don’t forget to share what you got in the comments!) This is one of the best, free, and fast Enneagram tests out there with a description of your type at the end:
I found the questions badly worded, as in many cases both or neither applied, yet I still had to choose one.
I also question the accuracy, as I’ve taken the full enneagram test at least three times in the past, EVERY TIME came out a 9, and your test has me as a 1: and yet, my baseline personality is FAR more peacemaker than perfectionist, and always has been.
Some questions on enneagram test were too black or white. Not enough choices.
Wow, that definitely describes me a Giver, Every word I can totally relate to. I have a good heart but my mind wanders Thanks for asking me to take the test. Honestly I’ve never heard of that word ‘Enneagram’ ever before but its definitely right about me. I love the way it’s worded. Before I did the Test I said to myself I bet I’ll probably get results as The Giver, maybe I’m abit psychic, lol, I wish.
As asked I am sharing my results from the enneagram. My result is “giver”. I would agree with most of it. Thank you
Hi, does anyone know about an esoteric study group about the enneagram? Or where to find more about it aside from the run-of-the-mill?
The enneagram has accompanied me greatly on my spiritual journey, and after dissolving some layers ;) , I discovered that what you find in books and what is talked about on sites primarily focuses on what I would call your ego- or yang-personality. I’m hyped to write here that I found that I have an entire different entity within me, which I would call your soul- or yin-personality. The miraculous part about the enneagram is that it not only describes the types of possible personalities for your ego and your soul, but also by the fact that the arrows show how they relate to each other.
For instance, my ego-personality is type 1, the reformer, which is known to be about ‘my way or the high way’. But really, its reason for existence is to set and enforce the rules of the game for my funloving type 7 enthusiastic soul.
I’ve made similar observations in other people I know as well. My achieving brother (type 3), who is incredibly vain, is actually searching to make friends (type 6), which showed from the moment he was born (smiling as a baby, waving to neighbours, etc). Another guy I know, who is profoundly lazy and very quiet (type 9), has these moments where he comes alive, when he gets absorbed into doing some sort of activity (type 3). My mom, who is type 6, when I asked about her most enjoyable childhood memory, told me it was eating an apple, while reading a book, under a tree… . Guess what personality that sounds like?
Anyway, I’m certain that the enneagram contains much more secrets (as insinuated by Gurdjieff), but I don’t know how to move forward.
Any advice given is greatly appreciated,
kind regards,
Herman
I find it taking some of the tests.
I tried taking the Enneagram test but It just could not go.I saw the link and when I clicked to get the page where I will take the test,it usually takes me to another thing or topic entirely.
Please what do I do.
Hey Obikeze,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. Have you tried a different browser or device? It seems like it could be something localized on your end maybe via the cache, as other users don’t seem to be having trouble.
Let me know.

2. The dichotomy

4. TETRAGRAMMATON
5. Five
6. The Hebrews
7. Luck
8. Infinity
9.
The result actually coincides with lab work which reveals I am biochemically undermethylated and perfectionism is a typical trait of undermethylated individuals amongst other things. Grateful for insight from multiple angles.
That’s an interesting correlation, thank you for sharing K.
The Perfectionists. What can I say other than I am a work in progress.
My Enneagram type is the Individualist.
I found the test hard also. The Giver. I knew it. :(. Being absolute empathic giving is more of ‘here’ please enjoy but take a step back out of my space. I grew the shell in childhood. I carry it to this day. Older . I can’t remember how I found this site but thankyou! I’m hoping still to find peace here.
Last time I took the test it was The Perfectionist.
This time I am The Observer, this fits perfectly with my current journey.
Putting into place healing and spiritual awareness, more grounding and Chakra aligning, meditation, self-love and kindness, shadow work, widening awareness and healing in Nature…….among other things in a total ‘work in progess’, has been my year.
My journey continues, I’ll never stop seeking and learning. What I’ve read and followed since joining your emails have been of great benefit to me and I thank you both for sharing all these things. I hope that others have been gaining as much insight as me.
Thank you so much for the kind words and sharing Red ♥
The test is great and I liked it. I am also interested to acquire the system if you grant me to use it in my training activities being conducted in our training Center, How may I request and how much is my obligation. By the way I am also a personality enhancement instructor and I found great ideas and useful ideas in your blog.
Hey Osmondo, if you contact https://lonerwolf.com/contact/ we can help you out. Thanks :)
Hmm.. I expected to turn out as a peacemaker since I consider myself a 9 in the Enneagram. But I know there is something about “the wings” in the enneagram structure and I thought I was a 9 with a strong 1 wing.. Perfectionism is a strong part of me, often I take on others strugggle and I often victimize myself. Courage, self compassion and self love are topics I work on these days..
Interesting to be listed as “Perfectionist.” I spent most of my imperfect disabled life (I’m 71, born hearing impaired) trying to conform to the perfectionism of mainstream society. After giving up some time ago I consider myself lucky: I’m happy and living a fulfilling life, striving for “continuous improvement, instead of perfection.” (Kim Collins)
I came out a perfectionist… spot on, sooo stressful (lol) Yes! I really need to learn serenity. And, resentment; yes again. Great test… seems like lots of perfectionists are seeking answers. Thank you for all your work Luna & Sol.
Thanks Meg!
I found this test a tad difficult. I’ve been changing so much on a spiritual level that some questions were 50/50 for me now where as before I would have completely been one or the other. I’m sure as my understanding grows from reaching within to become who I AM, my answers will change more.
